ROSEHILL

RACE ONE

The late betting told the story in the Chandon Handicap (1100 metres).

While Andermatt ($5-$3.70) continued to firm on the day as the big money kept arriving, Vowmaster went the other way from $1.55 in the morning all the way out to $1.95 at the jump.

Vowmaster held nearly twice as much money as Andermatt and the pair were head and shoulders above the rest in terms of the take. Overall, they were responsible for 82 percent of the total investment.

The James Cummings-trained winner went up $13 on Wednesday when markets first opened.

BETS: Andermatt $2,500 @ $4.20, $5,000 @ $1.40 PLACE

BETS: Vowmaster $10,000 @ $1.90, $2,400 @ $1.90, $2,000 @ $1.90 MULTIPLE TIMES, $2,000 @ $1.85, $2,880 @ $1.80, $2,000 @ $1.80 MULTIPLE TIMES, $20,000 @ $1.14 PLACE

RACE TWO

The money runners filled all the placings in the TAB Highway Class 3 Handicap (1400 metres).

Support throughout the day had been focused on the likes of Blue Missile, Texas Storm and Philipsburg while Commando Hunt, which eventually wound up fourth, was the most popular runner in terms of money held.

Blue Missile hovered around the $5.50 mark for most of the day before jumping at $6. Rachel King took the son of Smart Missile straight to the front and the pair were never headed.

Texas Storm ($13-$6.50) halved its quote on the day and nearly pulled off a nice betting move while Philispburg ($7.50-$5.50-$6.50) ran up to the support for it in finishing third.

BETS: Blue Missile $2,040 @ $6

BETS: Texas Storm $1,000 @ $6.50

BETS: Commando Hunt $1,500 @ $5.50, $1,000 @ $5.50

RACE FOUR

Subpoenaed defied the betting drift to land the money in the Irresistible Pools & Spas Millie Fox Stakes (1300 metres).

The Chris Waller mare went from $4.80 out to $7 and was a drifter for most of the day.

Producing a powerful finish from midfield, Subpoenaed overhauled the leaders and then held off Madam Rouge ($3.50) to score. She’s Ideel ($16-$9.50) ran right up to the support for her by flashing home for third.

Of the others, Positive Peace ($3.50-$3.70) and Asiago ($5) were the disappointments after being two of the most popular runners in the race.

BETS: Asiago $4,000 @ $5

BETS: Positive Peace $1,000 @ $3.80 MULTIPLE TIMES, $3,000 @ $3.70

BETS: Madam Rouge $1,750 @ $3.80, $1,000 @ $3.60 MULTIPLE TIMES, $1,000 @ $3.30

RACE FIVE

Home Affairs repaid the faithful in the Iron Jack Silver Slipper Stakes (1100 metres).

Heavily tried on debut before being run down late, Home Affairs went around a $3.60 second pick here but had plenty of admirers at the price.

Paulele ($3.60-$3.10) went around as the most popular runner and favourite with the pair responsible for 60 percent of the market.

BETS: Home Affairs $4,000 @ $3.60, $2,250 @ $3.40

BETS: Paulele $4,000 @ $3.30

BETS: Tiger Of Malay $4,000 @ $7.50

RACE SIX

One of the more popular runners all day was Sacramento when he was lining up in the City Tattersalls Club Hobartville Stakes (1400 metres).

The Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott runner attracted a bet of $10,000 @ $3 as soon as the market opened on Wednesday and the money just continued all week which saw him touch odds-on briefly.

Today, the son of Pierro was $2 after out to $2.30 before starting $2.20.

The gelding commanded over 60 percent of the total investment and held more than four times the amount of money than any other runner.

The Lord Mayor ($8) and Dazdoozdart ($5) were the ones tried to beat it along with Mustajeer ($12-$9) at a price.

BETS: Sacramento $10,000 @ $3 (taken Wednesday), $3,000 @ $2.25, $3,500 @ $2.20, $3,000 @ $2

BETS: Dadoozdart $5,500 @ $5

RACE SEVEN

The running of the City Tattersalls Club Hobartville Stakes (1400 metres) was an ultra competitive betting affair.

It was left to Aegon, which got out slightly in the market, to land the money in the Group Two after its price went from $3.60 out to $4.60. Despite that, he was still the third best tried runner in terms of money held behind Peltzer ($2.80-$2.90) and North Pacific ($4.20-$3.20-$3.40). The trio were the only runners to hold six figures.

Of the rest, The Elanora went $16-$13 late off the back of SKY Racing’s Lizzie Jelfs making it her ‘Pick of the Yard’.

BETS: Aegon $2,000 @ $4.60 MULTIPLE TIMES, $5,000 @ $4.40

BETS: North Pacific $2,500 @ $4, $15,000 @ $3.40, $2,200 @ $3.40, $2,000 @ $3.40, $1,000 @ $3.20

BETS: Peltzer $4,000 @ $2.90, $3,000 @ $2.70 TWICE, $2,000 @ $2.70

BETS: Prime Star $2,000 @ $19

BETS: Lions Roar $2,500 @ $19

RACE EIGHT

Rachel King made it four winners for the day after the confidently supported Emanate landed a number of big bets.

Godolphin had two leading chances in the race with Munitions ($5-$6) being the other, however, Emanate ($4.20-$3.20) went around with nearly three times the amount of money than the stablemate.

Handle The Truth, $26 on Wednesday and as low as $8.50 this morning, was a serious mover in betting before starting $11.

The winner was responsible for 33 percent of the total investment.

BETS: Emanate $4,000 @ $3.60, $3,000 e/w @ $3.60/$1.60, $3,000 @ $3.50

BETS: Munitions $6,000 @ $5.50

RACE NINE

One of the most sensational betting moves seen in a while failed to take off in the running of the Cleanaway Handicap (1400 metres).

Godolphin’s Lackeen was smashed in the final 10 minutes of betting, going from $3.90 into $2.80. Such was the ferocity of money that came for Lackeen that it displaced Wheelhouse for favouritism.

Wheelhouse was $4.80 this morning and then $3.80 before firming into as low as $2.40. The Chris Waller galloper then got back out to $3 due to the weight of money that arrived for Lackeen.

Starspangled Rodeo ($10) was pretty solid at the price for most of the day and attracted some handy eachway investments.

BETS: Lakeen $15,480 @ $3.90, $4,000 @ $2.90, $8,000 @ $2.80

BETS: Wheelhouse $9,500 @ $2.80, $3,000 @ $2.80

CAULFIELD

RACE ONE

Punters were off to a winning start thanks to Defibrillate in the Mornington Cup Prelude (2000 metres).

The fav held approximately 65 percent of the total investment but did drift slightly, going from $2.25 into $2.20 before starting $2.40.

The son of Shocking was five times as popular as the next best backed runner which was Wolfe ($3.90-$6) but it continued to drift throughout the afternoon.

BETS: Defibrillate $2,000 @ $2.40, $2,800 @ $2.20, $2,000 @ $2.20

BETS: Aussie Nugget $2,000 @ $5.50, $1,500 @ $5.50

BETS: Wolfe $2,000 @ $5.50

BETS: Hang Man $3,000 @ $6.50

RACE TWO

Oxley Road landed a handy betting move when leading throughout to win the Zedative Stakes (1200 metres).

The Peter Moody-trained colt opened the day as $3.20 second pick but consistent support throughout the afternoon saw him crunched into $2.50 favourite.

On the flip side, It’sourtime had been favourite all week but today drifted from $2.30 out to $3.10.

Of the rest there was a late push for Valaquenta ($6-$5) once it peaked at $6.

BETS: Oxley Road $3,000 @ $2.60, $2,000 @ $2.60

BETS: Itsourtime $1,600 @ $3, $2,000 @ $2.70

BETS: Valaquenta $3,000 @ $5.50

RACE THREE

Yes Baby Yes was a noted mover in the Angus Armanasco Stakes (1400 metres).

Jamie Kah had to get everything out of the daughter of Dissident to hold off the fast-finishing Malicorne ($3.20-$4.20).

Yes Baby Yes had been $8 in the morning but by the time the race came around, $5.50 was on the table.

BETS: Impecunious $2,000 @ $3.50, $2,500 @ $3.40

BETS: Malicorne $1,500 @ $4

RACE FOUR

The best tried runner in the Premier Signs Mannerism Stakes (1400 metres) was Rich Hips.

Rich Hips was backed from $5.50 to $4.20 and went around as the second most popular runner in terms of money held.

While the support was coming in and the price was being whittled away for Rich Hips, Perfect Jewel’s price was going in the opposite direction. She opened an even money favourite in the morning but blew out to $3.40 despite holding more money than the winner.

RACE FIVE

The big push for Khoekhoe went amiss in the Autumn Classic (1800 metres).

Khoekhoe was hammered throughout the day, firming from $3.40 in the morning to start a hot $2.25 favourite.

Such was the popularity of the Matt Cumani galloper that he held over 33 percent of the total investment and was nearly twice as popular as the likes of Butter Chicken ($5.50) and Young Werther ($3.30-$5.50).

Parure ($7-$8) was pretty solid for most of the day and didn’t really budge.

BETS: Khoekhoe $1,000 @ $3.10, $4,000 @ $2.30, $4,000 @ $2.25

BETS: Butter Chicken $1,000 @ $5.50 MULTIPLE TIMES

RACE SIX

The late push for Probabeel paid off in the Futurity Stakes (1400 metres).

Most of the day the TAB Fixed Odds activity had been for Behemoth, however, Probabeel went $3.60 out to $3.90 during that time. Once it peaked at $3.90, that is when a flurry of activity came for the Kiwi mare who ended up jumping a $3.50 chance.

Going around as the third most popular galloper in terms of money taken, Probabeel swept to the front for Damian Lane early in the straight before holding off Arcadia Queen ($5.50-$4.80).

The runner-up had plenty of admirers. In fact, only Behemoth ($3-$3.30) held more money.

BETS: Probabeel $3,000 @ $3.90, $2,000 @ $3.80, $1,400 @ $3.60

BETS: Behemoth $2,000 @ $3.50, $2,500 @ $3.30, $3,000 @ $3, $2,000 @ $3

BETS: Arcadia Queen $2,500 @ $4.60

BETS: Crosshaven $2,500 @ $15

RACE SEVEN

Plenty of big bets went by the wayside when the heavily tried Enthaar was swamped late in the Blue Diamond Stakes (1200 metres).

One of the most popular runners all day anywhere across the country, Enthaar was $2.60 this morning and got to $2.80 before big money rolled in to see it jump a $2.40 favourite.

Overall, the Ciaron Maher & Dave Eustace runner held 43 percent of the money on the race since the barrier draw earlier in the week. Enthaar was also three times as popular as anything else.

Artorius was $13 and peaked at $16 before some late specking saw it jump $13.

Of the rest, General Beau ($6-$9), Ingratiating ($10-$8.50) and Anamoe ($6) had plenty of admirers too.

BETS: Artorius $1,000 @ $16

BETS: Enthaar $3,000 @ $2.80, $2,292 @ $2.70, $3,500 @ $2.60, $12,000 @ $2.40, $6,000 @ $2.40, $3,000 @ $2.40, $2,800 @ $2.40, $5,000 @ $2.30 MULTIPLE TIMES, $2,000 @ $2.30 MULTIPLE TIMES

BETS: Ingratiating $3,000 @ $8.50

BETS: General Beau $1,000 @ $9 MULTIPLE TIMES

RACE EIGHT

The Oakleigh Plate (1100 metres) was a sensational betting race with six horses responsible for six-figure holds.

Zoutori ($11-$15-$14), Dirty Work ($9-$11), Celebrity Queen ($7.50-$9-$8.50), Anders ($8.50), Brooklyn Hustle and Ancestry ($5.50-$8.50), the latter the most popular, all commanded plenty of big bets their way.

Portland Sky ($13-$9-$10) had been specked most of the afternoon while Brooklyn Hustle ($14-$12) was in the same boat.

In the end the judge couldn’t separate Portland Sky or Celebrity Queen, with Kemalpasa holding third.

Prophet’s Thumb was the most significant mover and went $23 to $11 on the day.

BETS: Celebrity Queen $2,000 @ $9.50, $5,000 @ $9, $1,000 @ $9 MULTIPLE TIMES

RACE NINE

Paradee had support all week to take out the Carlton Draught Peter Young Stakes (1800 metres).

Danny O’brien’s mare was $6.50 earlier in the week but this morning $4.60 was put up. By the time the race rolled around, $5 was on offer with the daughter of Epaulette the third most popular runner in terms of money held.
