The Group One racing doesn’t stop in Winter with the Brisbane Winter Carnival coming alive during the months of May, June, July and August.
The first Group One of the Brisbane Winter Carnival is the Doomben 10,000, a 1200m weight-for-age sprint race worth $800,000.
Other feature races of the Brisbane Winter Carnival include the Doomben Cup, Kingsford Smith Cup, Queensland Oaks and the $1.5 million Stradbroke Handicap.
The Memsie Stakes is the only Group One race held in Melbourne during the winter, while the Group One Winx Stakes takes place during August in Sydney.
