The Belmont Winter Carnival continues this Saturday for H.G. Bolton Sprint Day. The weather is fine, the track is soft (5) and the rail is in the true position for the entire circuit.

Race 1. (14:18) Drummond Golf Plate 1000m
Happy to take a chance on 9 God’s Choice (Bet Now:Β $6.50), who resumes for Luke Fernie. Her lone run came in the Autumn in the Gimcrack when raw, new to the caper, and was never a factor. Resumes without a trial but that is not unusual for the stable and CJP is booked.
1 Farnova (Bet Now:Β $9.00) is a big improver from a fortnight back. She just got too far out of her ground but I liked the way she found the line late in the piece. If she can settle closer in the run, she’ll take holding out I suspect.
2 Burning Bridges (Bet Now:Β $15.00) is a Neville Parnham trained juvenile that resumes. He had two Summer runs to start the career, each time being far from disgraced. Like his recent trial here and despite the gate, commands respect.
Race 2. (14:58) Tabtouch - Westspeed Platinum (Rs0ly) 1600m
3 Strapping Prophet (Bet Now:Β $4.80) is several weeks between runs since a plain effort at this track/distance but it was a testing track and I don’t think he handled it. Firmer deck here, he can bounce back hard if he has petrol left in the tank.
4 Here For Cheques (Bet Now:Β $4.80) ran over 1700m last Wednesday at Bunbury when on speed and fought hard in the straight but couldn’t quite get there when second to Esta Mirando. Good racing style, will be strong late and commands respect.
5 Kelvinator (Bet Now:Β $9.00) was a surprise winner over 1400m here two weeks back, leading throughout and he gave nothing else a look in to win and win well. 1600m is a slight query but with his racing style, will give himself every chance.
Race 3. (15:38) Bisley Workwear Hcp (72+) 1000m
9 Long Service Leaf (Bet Now:Β $1.95) comes here six weeks between runs since racing over 1200m here, trying hard from off speed but I just think the end of 1200m found him out. Like him with fresh legs at 1000m and has a kind map in his corner.
7 Baby Pearl (Bet Now:Β $8.00) was down the track three weeks ago at this track/distance, getting off speed and was just fair in the run to the line behind Watto’s Mark. Maps to do no work and be effective late, so he can bounce back.
2 Ginnivan (Bet Now:Β $15.00) is five weeks between runs since racing at this track/distance. He was wide no cover on speed and that hard run told on him late in the piece. Better run in transit on speed here, he’s capable at odds.
Race 4. (16:14) Mrs Mac's Hcp 1400m
5 Western Miss (Bet Now:Β $1.95) looks a really nice filly for Michael Grantham. This girl was an impressive winner last Saturday, being keen on speed but she found plenty and was strong in the run to the line. If she has petrol left in the tank, she takes beating.
3 Partay (Bet Now:Β $6.50) comes to town off the back of a spank job win at Bunbury last Wednesday, leading throughout and gave nothing else a look in. Good racing style, hard fit and in form, he commands respect.
7 Heaven Specified (Bet Now:Β $7.00) was good late when resuming behind Common Touch a fortnight back, sitting off the pace and was good late when third. Good upside to come and rising in trip, he’s a leading contender.
Race 5. (16:50) Glenroy Chaff Hcp (72+) 1400m
3 Memory Parade (Bet Now:Β $27.00) on top for me each way. She ran last Saturday at this track. She got off speed and while she was never threatening, I really liked the way she finished her race off. If she can settle closer, I think she’ll take holding out.
15 Zourun Run (Bet Now:Β $4.50) is racing like 1400m suits after racing over 1200m here a fortnight back behind Magical Sequence where she seemingly had her chance but was game in defeat when third. Proven track/distance performer, she’s one of the hardest to beat.
13 Benji’s (Bet Now:Β $301.00) steps up to 1400m after racing over 1200m here two weeks back where he got a fair way out of his ground and was never really a factor behind Magical Sequence. The rise to 1400m is a tick and getting towards peak fitness, he’s an improver at odds.
Race 6. (17:30) Liquor Barons Hcp (66+) 2100m
2 Citino (Bet Now:Β $16.00) has found winning form and he can go on with it. That win came two weeks ago here, giving his rivals a start and a beating in an impressive effort. He’s got the win on the board, his confidence is up, he clearly appeals.
3 Kisses From Kelly (Bet Now:Β $6.00) ran a narrow second to Citino a fortnight back. He landed on speed and was there to be beaten. He was beaten but kept chasing and was far from disgraced. Racing well and should be around the mark.
4 Major Mario (Bet Now:Β $31.00) is on the seven day back up after racing over the mile here last Saturday, getting off speed and just whacked late behind Auto Cruise. Back up in trip suits, I am not dismissing him.
Race 7. (18:05) H.g. Bolton Sprint (L) 1200m
I thought 9 Jaz Session (Bet Now:Β $17.00) did more than enough when resuming in the Beaufine two weeks ago, getting a fair way out of her ground but didn’t mind the way she finished her race off in defeat. Fitter and up to 1200m, should prove hard to hold out.
7 Immortal Bliss (Bet Now:Β $3.50) is a beauty for Dan Morton. Loved the way he let down from the back to win the Beaufine, producing very good change up speed when asked to score. It is all upside with him so rising to 1200m is fine, he takes beating.
10 Luana Miss (Bet Now:Β $8.50) kept chasing with purpose when a first up fourth in the Beaufine two weeks back. She got too far out of her ground but was good late in the piece without threatening behind Immortal Bliss. Better set up here, I am not dismissing.
Race 8. (18:45) Lawn Pride Australia (Rs1mw) 1400m
6 Rock The Market (Bet Now:Β $3.90) looks a straight bat play. Simon Miller trained mare that has done little wrong in three career runs, the latest being over this track/distance two weeks ago, sitting off speed and tried hard but couldn’t quite get there. Racing well and should be around the mark.
1 Pantile Warrior (Bet Now:Β $3.60) is one of the more fascinating runners on the card. Formerly with Danny O’Brien, he now finds himself with Team Williams. Better form is over further, but he looks to have trialled well for his WA debut and good lead is W Pike booked.
10 Triple The Chant (Bet Now:Β $21.00) is dangerous at odds. Just missed on the win first up before racing here two weeks back when back, wide, and failed to come on. Hard fit now and with a drag into the race, she’s dangerous.
