WA trainer Ben Owen has had his appeal against a four year ban dismissed at a hearing today.
Owen was charged over the use of Nitrolingual spray on his horse Rhino’s Lad before a race in December last year in which the horse went on to win.
Stewards were notified by Ms Gallagher an on course patron who witnessed the treatment.
Stewards acted on the report in which they found the spray in Owen’s possession.
Owen pleaded guilty for possession of a banned substance whilst pleading not guilty to administering a banned substance.
The appeal board dismissed Ben Owen’s defence, the four-year disqualification will stand as will the $400 fine imposed.
