Kerrin McEvoy has decided against appealing a careless riding suspension and will miss the ride on Beaded in the Group One Tattersall’s Tiara.
McEvoy was suspended for eight meetings at Eagle Farm last Saturday for an incident shortly after the start of the Group One TJ Smith Stakes (1600m) in which he rode Benfica to victory.
His suspension will start from Thursday and he can return to the saddle on Monday week ruling him out of the June 25 Tattersall’s Tiara (1400m), formerly the Winter Stakes, at Eagle Farm.
“I decided not to appeal,” McEvoy said.
“We thought about it, but I pleaded guilty and I thought it was a fair sentence. I finish after today’s meeting (at Canterbury) and then I’m back on Monday week.”
McEvoy rode Beaded into second behind three-year-old Sincero in last Saturday’s $1 million Group One Stradbroke Handicap (1400m).
