Alizee remains at the head of All Star Mile odds

Follwing the announcement of the top 10 vote-getters for the All-Star Mile to be run at Flemington on March 16, TAB has re-opened Alizee as $3.50 ‘All In’ favourite.

Alizee has returned this campaign with impressive victories in the Christmas Classic at Randwick on December 29 and Expressway Stakes at Rosehill on February 2 and is currently the $2.40 favourite with TAB to win Saturday’s Futurity Stakes at Caulfield.

“Alizee was deservedly voted into the All-Star Mile considering her record of seven wins and three minor placings from 16 starts including two wins over the mile at Group 1 level; the 2017 Flight Stakes and 2018 Queen of the Turf along with a third placing in the 2017 Thousand Guineas,” TAB’s Trent Langskaill said.

Happy Clapper was granted the first wildcard for the All-Star Mile based on his outstanding resume in Group 1s over 1600m (winner of the 2015 Villiers Stakes, 2017 Epsom and 2018 Doncaster Mile and three runner-up finishes; two of them behind Winx) and is the $6 second elect with TAB.

Amphitrite resumed last Saturday with a win in the TAB Vanity and is rated an $8 chance with victories at the mile in the Edward Manifold Stakes and Thousand Guineas from last year’s Spring Carnival on her resume.

Land Of Plenty – $6.50 for Saturday’s Futurity Stakes at Caulfield – is also an $8 hope with TAB for the All-Star Mile but the Peter and Paul Snowden-trained horse will have to snare a wildcard berth to enter the inaugural running of the world’s richest mile race.

Of the other All-Star Mile runners voted into the field, Grunt – dual Group 1 winner over the Flemington mile – is currently $11 with TAB while Material Man ($15) and Moss ‘n’ Dale ($26) are also in the reckoning.

Mr Money Bags ($51), Balf’s Choice, Foundry, Man Of His Word and Urban Ruler (all $101) round out the other gallopers who received entry into the All-Star Mile field via public voting.

The three wildcards that are still up for grabs will be announced by Racing Victoria before Monday, March 4.
