2 Our Brave Boy (Bet Now:  $SP.00) commands respect for Phillip Stokes after a first up second at Caulfield Heath when on speed and tried hard but just found one better in Vega Vixen. Should be out of trouble near the front and only run well.

7 Stars Of Dom (Bet Now:  $SP.00) should prove hard to beat after her debut at Sandown three weeks ago, closing strongly from off speed when second to Divine Dot. She will be strong late and should be within range.

4 Mbube (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a Rubick colt for Lloyd Kennewell that debuts. He has looked strong in jumpout work to my eye and while 1000m might be on the short side, I think he’ll be there late and chipping away. A win wouldn’t shock.

12 Lucky Single (Bet Now:  $SP.00) comes to town for Mark Walker off the back of a maiden win at Moe where she was one of the first off the bit but ran through the pain barrier and was strong to the line in scoring. Good test here, but confident she can measure up.

8 Race For Rule (Bet Now:  $SP.00) had been strong to start her career with two placings. She was bursting to win and it came at Pakenham, making an absolute mess of them in dominant fashion. She’ll take beating in what looks a winnable race.

1 Davida (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is an interesting runner. Daughter of Bivouac that resumes for Danny O’Brien, her last run coming in the Autumn Stakes when down the track behind Observer. Recent jumpout was sharp and she does have class on her side.

9 Perfect Ten (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is flying for Nikki Burke. Let down with real purpose to win first up at Sale before going to Caulfield Heath when wide no cover and fought on bravely in defeat behind Cooly. Like her up to the mile, hard fit, she appeals big time.

5 Pula (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is several weeks between runs since racing at Caulfield Heath when on speed and tried hard but just felt the pinch late in the piece when third to the in form Miracle Spin. Good racing style, she appeals as a key chance.

3 Belle Savoir (Bet Now:  $SP.00) was solid in defeat two weeks back at Caulfield over the mile, getting back off speed and kept chasing in a pretty good effort in defeat. She’s teasing to win and this does look a race well within reach for her.

2 Clevor Trever (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a beauty for Patrick Payne. 2/2 this time in, the latest coming at Caulfield two weeks ago when giving them a start and a beating, producing a brilliant finale late to score. Harder here but hard to knock the way he’s racing.

13 Cardamon (Bet Now:  $SP.00) comes here with fresh legs, her last run being at Flemington on Anzac Day when back and closing strongly behind Concord Connie. Jumpout to tick over was pretty good and commands respect.

2 Golden Horizon (Bet Now:  $SP.00) was a super winner at Morphettville two weeks ago, giving them a start and a beating in a sharp display. He had been hit and miss prior but off that performance, I say he’s right in the mix here.

1 Punch Lane (Bet Now:  $SP.00) each way for me. Thought he did more than enough when resuming in the Wangoom. He then went to this track/distance and was terrible, but perhaps second up syndrome? Great third up record, I think he’ll run a beauty at odds.

9 Boltsaver (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is an absolute swimmer. He ran at Swan Hill on Sunday and just missed, driving hard from off speed. He is a frustrating horse to follow but is hard fit, conditions to suit, down in the weights…he runs well.

7 Grid Girl (Bet Now:  $SP.00) should be better for the first up run, which came at this track/distance behind Meridius when near the speed and tried hard but condition gave way late. Fitter, kind map, she’s a knockout hope.

15 Cicala (Bet Now:  $SP.00) was accepted for Murray Bridge but Will Clarken runs her here and is on top for me. I reckon this is a test run for her to see if she can measure up in Melbourne with an eye towards blacktype. She swims, has jumped out well, draws the right part of the track, she’ll do me.

10 Bazaball Rewarded (Bet Now:  $SP.00) sat on speed in the Bel Esprit two weeks back at Caulfield and ran a very honest race but 1100m at that level just found her out. Much better suited here at 1000m and is a leading contender.

2 Unflinching (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is several weeks between runs since contesting the Bat Out Of Hell at the Gold Coast when thrown in the deep end and didn’t quite measure up. Back to this level, jump and run, he’ll run an improved race.

5 Simurgh (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a horse that could keep going through his grades and be a chance of winning a golden ticket race for the first Tuesday in November. He has won his past two, both over 2000m at Caulfield, and each time has been strong to/through the line, suggesting 2400m should be ideal. If indeed he’s going to be heading down the Melbourne Cup path, he has to keep winning, including here. Confident he’ll win here.

9 Straand Deal (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is progressive and heading in the right direction for Lloyd Kennewell. Not sure he has beaten much his past couple but the way he has gone about it has been impressive, over 2000m and 2100m respectively, so 2400m should be fine, he commands respect.

4 Aberfeldie Boy (Bet Now:  $SP.00) ran down the track behind Simurgh at Caulfield two weeks back. He was back in the run and tried to get to the better part of the track but just whacked late in the piece. Like him up to 2400m, he’s a first four prospect.

1 Bankers Choice (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is three weeks between runs since a second at this track/distance when on speed and tried his guts out but just found one better in Pudding. Racing well, knocking on the door and strikes a winnable race.

9 Sir Atlas (Bet Now:  $SP.00) steps up to 1800m after racing over the mile here three weeks ago where he just found them a bit sharp, perhaps needed the run, but wasn’t too bad late. Right down in the weights here, he commands respect.

7 Elsie May (Bet Now:  $SP.00) was a total forgive for mine from last Saturday at Flemington. The track was too wet for her and she was just never a factor behind Duchess Zou. Prior efforts were sound, I think she can run a much improved race.

14 Thebelmontgangster (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is bursting to win. Looked all over a winner on the Lakeside track last start but was nabbed late near the peg, with a gap to third. Has a kind map in his corner, he should run well.

8 Storm Season (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a Price/Kent trained mare that is first up. Her last prep ended with a couple of wins, firstly at Kembla before a Caulfield Heath triumph. Looks to have jumped out well for the return, watch the market.

9 Without Thinking (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a Symons/Laxon trained gelding that resumes. His last run came over the mile at Doomben back in Feb 2025 so he’s clearly had his issues but is back and his recent trial wasn’t too bad. Watch betting.

LONG SHOT: Race Three Number 9 Perfect Ten
