Trainer Sam Kavanagh has been found guilty of 23 charges stemming from a high level of cobalt in a sample taken from Midsummer Sun after he won the Gosford Cup in January.
Racing NSW stewards have found Kavanagh was not responsible for the administration of caffeine also found in the sample.
The trainer’s vet Dr Tom Brennan is one of five others found guilty of charges relating to cobalt and other substances found in horses from the Kavanagh stable.
The six have until September 10 to make submissions on penalty.
