Group 1 winner Happy Clapper will kick-off his Spring campaign in the Memsie Stakes at Caulfield after trainer Pat Webster could not secure a slot in the $13m Everest.
The multiple Group 1 winner had arguably his best campaign yet in the Autumn winning the Canterbury Stakes and the Doncaster Mile before a respectable four lengths defeat to Winx in the Queen Elizabeth.
Trainer Pat Webster had hoped to secure the horse a slot in The Everest to take advantage of the horses impressive first up record but with two slots remaining and other horses ahead of him in the pecking order the decision has been made to head to Melbourne for the Group 1 Memsie Stakes for his first up run where he will clash with Everest contender Vega Magic.
The Group 1 Makybe Diva Stakes has also been earmarked as the second up run for the horse with a sole Melbourne campaign likely.
