The last time stablemates Digitalism, Oak Park Goblet and Carashan Girl raced on the same day they all won.
The trio gave the John Sadler stable a hat-trick at the metropolitan meeting at Geelong last month and the trainer is hoping for a similar result when his three charges head to Moonee Valley on Saturday.
Digitalism has a particular affinity for the Valley circuit where he has posted two wins and a second from three starts.
Sadler rates him a genuine chance to improve that record in the Schweppes Handicap in which he will be ridden by in-form apprentice Michael Dee.
“He’s drawn barrier three. He comes in on the minimum with 54 (kilograms) so he’s a very good chance,” Sadler said.
Digitalism was beaten by runaway winner Kenjorwood last start when he dead-heated for second with Longeron who has subsequently won at Flemington.
“The form is good and he comes in well,” Sadler said.
Both Carashan Girl and Oak Park Goblet have pedigrees that trace back to the mare Goblet who Sadler remembers well.
“Goblet was my first Group winner when she won the Queen Of The South Stakes in Adelaide (in 1987),” Sadler said.
Carashan Girl, a last-start third to Whistle Baby at Sale, is favourite for the William Hill Cox Plate On Sale Now Handicap while Oak Park Goblet is an $8.50 chance for the William Hill Handicap.
Oak Park Goblet failed in a straight-track race at Flemington last start but Sadler expects her to appreciate a distance rise to 1600m.
Sadler will also start three-year-old Secret Blend in the Thanks Bellajinsky Handicap and five-year-old Charmed Harmony in the PSC Insurance Brokers Handicap.
After a Sandown win in April, Charmed Harmony was well beaten at Geelong but bounced back with a last-start second to Red Bomber at Caulfield.
“He put in an ordinary race at Geelong then got back into form with a really good run at Caulfield last Saturday week,” Sadler said.
“I think it’s a very open race but he’ll lead for a good part of the journey.”
