TAB weren’t taking any chances with Doubtland and the colt’s victory justified that stance after the running of the Widden Kindergarten Stakes (1100 metres).

The son of Not A Single Doubt was $4.60 this morning and got out to $5 at the jump and despite being overshadowed in the betting by Rulership and Damaged, still had plenty of big bets riding on it.

Brenton Avdulla had the Team Hawkes runner second last on the bend but peeling out wide on turning, Doubtland didn’t take much time to put paid to his rivals as he raced away to score impressively over Jerle ($26) and Not An Option ($7).

The big push late was for Damaged. Such was the weight of support for the James Cummings runner that he went $3.40-$3.20-$3.30 fav with Rulership ($2.80-$3.40) blowing late.

BETS: Doubtland $2,000 @ $5

BETS: Rulership $1,000 @ $3.30, $10,660 @ $2.60

BETS: Damaged $2,000 @ $3.30, $2,000 @ $3.20, $1,500 @ $3.20, $1,000 @ $3.20, $18,000 @ $1.80 PLACE, $20,000 @ $1.75 PLACE

The late betting told the story for the running of the Quincy Seltzer Carbine Club Stakes (1600 metres).

Favourite Reloaded went from even money out to $2.50 as money came for several of his rivals including the winner, Entente ($23-$17).

Leading throughout for Tim Clark, Entente just held on to beat the fast-finishing Bottega ($15-$12) with Power Scheme ($23-$14), which had specking at a price, gripping on to third from the well-tried Grand Piano ($4.20).

Reloaded was responsible for 50 percent of the market.

BETS: Reloaded $1,000 @ $2.50 TWICE, $1,500 @ $2.40

BETS: Grand Piano $1,012 @ $4.40, $1,000 @ $4.40, $3,000 @ $4.20

Gracie Belle drove through along the rails to take out a nail biter in the Newhaven Park Country Championships Final (1400 metres).

Kerrin McEvoy stuck to the inside and found a gap after Al Mah Haha left the rail, with the pair battling out a great finish.

Gracie Belle ($21-$18-$21) had strong eachway support in the race and opened $26 earlier in the week.

Al Mah Haha was another tried at the juicy odds and carried some good bets at the $14. Plonka ($18-$16) wound up third.

Bobbing went around as favourite despite blowing from $3.90 in the morning to $4.80. It was twice as popular as second pick in the market Two Big Fari ($7-$5).

BETS: Bobbing $1,000 @ $4.60, $3,500 @ $4.40, $1,000 @ $4.40, $1,000 @ $4.20 TWICE, $1,000 @ $4

BETS: Julian Rock $3,000 @ $7, $1,000 e/w @ $7/$2.60

BETS: Two Big Fari $1,250 @ $5

Colette went around as the most popular runner in the TAB Adrian Knox Stakes (2000 metres).

Although the James Cummings runner drifted from $2.20 in the morning out to $3.10 at the jump, she held nearly twice as much as anything else.

Stuck in traffic on the turn, James McDonald found clear running midway down the straight and Colette exploded, running down Quintessa to win running away.

Toffee Tongue ($34-$10) was tried at the big price and wound up second just in front of Quintessa ($41-$23).

Of the others, Betcha Flying ($10-$6.50) was most popular outside the winner.

BETS: Colette $5,250 @ $3.10, $4,000 @ $3, $1,500 @ $3, $1,000 @ $2.90 MULTIPLE TIMES

BETS: Betcha Flying $1,000 @ $6.50

BETS: Toffee Tongue $1,000 @ $12

BETS: Paradee $3,450 @ $4.40

The Schweppes Chairman’s Quality (2600 metres) was a sensational betting race with almost every single horse coming in for decent support.

Carif ($5) was most popular and held 26 percent of the total investment but Youngstar ($7) and Gayatri ($8) weren’t that far behind in the holds.

Raheen House ($9-$16) was a big drifter but overcame that to nail Carif in the shadows of the post. Mirage Dancer ($8-$15) was another that got the blows in betting.

In a race that saw a number of moves, the ones that stood out were House Of Cartier ($19-$10) and Angel Of Truth ($12-$7) with the latter being $17 when final field betting commenced.

BETS: Raheen House $750 @ $16, $500 @ $16 TWICE

BETS: Mirage Dancer $1,000 @ $10

BETS: Youngstar $1,000 e/w @ $7/$2.40

Some late specking for Kings Legacy was spot on in the Inglis Sires’ (1400 metres).

Starting the day at $12, the son of Redoute’s Choice blew out to as much as $26 before a late rally saw it jump a $19 shot.

Finishing best to overhaul Prague ($5.50), it gave Hugh Bowman a double after he scored with Raheen House earlier in the day.

Favourite Mamaragan ($2.80), as much as $4.40 earlier in the week, flew home to get third in front of the money horse Ole Kirk ($8-$6-$5.50).

The third and fourth horses controlled over half the total investment. Of the others, Cultural Amensia ($13-$8.50-$11) was a good go in the morning but that money dried up late.

BETS: Mamaragan $1,000 @ $2.90 TWICE, $2,500 @ $2.80 TWICE

BETS: Prague $2,000 @ $5

BETS: Pioneer River $1,000 @ $61

BETS: Aim $1,100 @ $12

Quick Thinker was pretty solid in betting for the Bentley Australian Derby (2400 metres).

The Murray Baker & Andrew Forsman runner was $9-$8 on the day and fourth most popular runner behind Castelvecchio, Warning and Zebrowski.

Hitting the front turning for home, Quick Thinker held off the popular Zebrowski ($14-$10-$14) in a stirring finish with very little splitting them at the end. Eric The Eel ($26-$18) carried some solid eachway investment and was close up in third.

Castelvecchio was the big mover late, going $3-$2.60, and was twice as popular as the next best supported which was Warning. Shadow Hero ($4.40-$6) blew for most of the day.

BETS: Castelvecchio $3,270 @ $3, $3,000 @ $3, $2,500 @ $3, $1,500 @ $3, $1,000 @ $3, $2,000 @ $2.90, $4,000 @ $2.80, $3,000 @ $2.60, $2,000 @ $6

BETS: Warning $1,000 @ $5 MULTIPLE TIMES, $1,560 @ $4.40

BETS: Shadow Hero $2,500 @ $6, $1,672 @ $6

Nature Strip got out to its biggest price at the jump and those that took the odds about it where never given a cause for concern in the TAB T.J Smith Stakes (1200 metres).

The speedster was $3.60 out to $4.40 late but his price fluctuated throughout the day.

James McDonald rated him perfectly as the pair dropped their rivals on straightening and held on to beat Santa Ana Lane ($6-$9) and Redzel ($14) in a great finish.

The big mover late was Pierata ($7-$5.50) which came from well back to be in a photo for third.

Nature Strip was most popular in front of Pierata, Santa Ana Lane, Bivouac ($4.80-$5) and Loving Gaby ($7).

Of the rest, Exceedance went $12-$8.50 at one point before starting a $10 shot.

BETS: Nature Strip $1,500 @ $4.20, $1,000 @ $3.90 TWICE, $1,650 @ $3.80

BETS: Bivouac $1,020 @ $5, $2,000 @ $4.80, $1,375 @ $4.80, $1,000 @ $4.80

BETS: Santa Ana Lane $4,000 @ $8.50

BETS: Exceedance $1,000 @ $10

Nettoyer caused a big boilover in The Star Doncaster Mile (1600 metres).

Opening $34 at the start of the day, Wendy Roche’s stable star didn’t attract much attention and got to $41 at the jump.

Pulled out wide at the top of the straight, James Innes Jnr got the best out of the mare with the pair sweeping to the leaders in the shadow of the post to score.

Star Of The Seas ($34-$19) was tried at a price and wound up second in front of the popular Brandenburg ($6.50-$7.50-$7) with the pair just in front of race favourite Melody Belle ($5.50).

Melody Belle had the most money and was nearly three times as popular as Shared Ambition ($9.50-$8.50) and Brandenburg.

BETS: Brandenburg $1,000 @ $7.50 TWICE

BETS: Shared Ambition $3,000 x $1,500 e/w @ $9.50/$3.20, $3,000 @ $8.50

BETS: Super Seth $1,200 @ $15

BETS: Imaging $1,000 @ $14, $2,000 e/w @ $13/$4.20

Rubisaki delivered TAB’s worst result of the day in the De Bortoli Wines PJ Bell Stakes (1200 metres).

Despite blowing from $2 in the morning out to as much as $2.60, Rubisaki went around as the most popular runner (in terms of money held) across Australia today and was heavily leveraged in multis.

Jumping a $2.50 favourite, Nash Rawiller barged into the clear at the top of the straight and the daughter of Rubick did the rest, exploding to put away her rivals and score comfortably over Wayupinthesky ($8-$9). Akari ($23-$17) grabbed the minor end of the prize.

The big story of the race, other than how much the winner was carrying, was the sensational move for Juan Diva which was $71 on Wednesday. Today, it was still $34 in the morning and ended up jumping a $7 equal second favourite!

BETS: Rubisaki $1,100 @ $2.60, $1,000 @ $2.60, $3,890 @ $2.50, $3,000 @ $2.50, $2,989 @ $2.50, $2,500 @ $2.50, $2,000 @ $2.50, $1,500 @ $2.50, $1,000 @ $2.50, $4,500 @ $2.40, $3,000 @ $2.40, $2,000 @ $2.40, $1,360 @ $2.30

BETS: Wayupinthesky $2,000 ew @ $8/$2.50

BETS: Dazzling Damsel $1,000 @ $15

Forever Free defied the betting drift to land the money in the Robert Taranto Handicap (1100 metres).

Rated a treat by Jamie Kah in the lead, Forever Free ($2-$2.70) kicked away midway down the straight to hold off Ranting ($7) and The Last Charge ($101) with the trifecta runners all racing on or near the speed.

BETS: Forever Free $1,000 @ $2.70

BETS: Boom Daddy $1,000 @ $8.50

BETS: Sahara Song $1,500 @ $6, $1,000 @ $6

BETS: Ranting $1,350 @ $8

BETS: Phere Her $1,000 @ $10

The late money for Mirimar was spot on in the Geoff Murphy Handicap (2400 metres).

Mike Moroney’s runner was $5 in the morning, bottomed out at $4.20 and jumped $4.60.

Going around as the second most popular horse, Mirimar enjoyed the run of the race behind the leader Inverloch ($3.30-$4-$3.80), which held the most money, with the pair finishing one-two at the finish.

BETS: Mirimar $2,000 e/w @ $4.60/$1.75, $2,500 @ $4.40

BETS: Inverloch $1,000 @ $3.60 TWICE, $1,000 @ $3.30 TWICE

Favourite backers were on good terms with themselves after Buffalo River led and won easily in the Jack Elliott Handicap (1400 metres).

Giving Mike Moroney a running double, Buffalo River found the front for Thomas Stockdale and the $3.80 fav was never headed, booting clear to score impressively.

Villa Sarchi ($18) rattled home for second while Battle Torque ($81) added plenty of spice to the exotics.

Buffalo River held nearly twice as much money as second pick in the market, Killavally ($5.50).

BETS: Buffalo River $2,980 @ $3.70, $1,500 @ $3.70 TWICE, $1,000 @ $3.50

BETS: Arty Lucas $1,000 e/w @ $31/$8

This was a blowout result for punters with double figure odds runners filling the placings.

Beauty Bolt was the most popular horse in the Thomas North Handicap (1400 metres), going around as a $6.50 favourite and with 20 percent of the total investment.

Tycoon Bella ($14-$8) was good firm as was Splendoronthegrass ($26-$12), however, Oasis Girl ($12-$19) was largely ignored.

Spearing to the lead with Damien Thornton in the saddle, the pair were never headed as they went on to beat Under My Spell ($31) and Donttelltheboss ($12).

BETS: Beauty Bolt $2,000 @ $6.50, $1,000 @ $6.50 MULTIPLE TIMES

BETS: Parmie $1,000 @ $8.50

BETS: Modear $2,000 e/w @ $12/$3.90

Ancestry delivered a bad result to TAB after racing away with the Selangor Turf Club Handicap (1100 metres).

The Ben Thompson-ridden runner held some big bets and jumped a $6.50 chance, which put him on the third line of betting behind Absolute Flirt ($6) and Sartorial Splendor ($12-$6).

Ancestry kept the inside line after the money horse Sartorial Splendor was sent forward to race outside the leader. Kicking clear on straightening, the Phillip Stokes gelding easily defeated Knowles ($8.50) and Defiant Dancer ($10-$12).

BETS: Ancestry $2,500 @ $6, $2,000 @ $6

Diamond Effort ($2.90-$3.60) was easily the most popular runner for the running of the Lamaro’s Hotel Handicap (1000 metres).

Going around with 35 percent of the total investment, Diamond Effort came down the outside for Ben Melham to overhaul Ashlor ($12-$7), which had been specked at eachway odds. Fine Dane ($18-$11) wound up third. Of the others, Malibu Style ($9-$7) had admirers as did Parsifal ($4.40).

BETS: Diamond Effort $3,300 @ $3.50, $1,100 @ $3.60, $2,000 @ $3.20

BETS: Parsifal $2,000 e/w @ $4.40/$1.75

Punters kept chipping away at Exasperate and were rewarded when it proved best in the eighth event on the card from Caulfield.

Exasperate was $8 on Wednesday and $6.50 this morning, however, by the time the race rolled around it was a $5.50 chance.

Mitch Aitken pulled out three-wide approaching the final bend, racing to the lead shortly after and pulling away late.

Charossa ($7) finished strongly for second in front of the heavily tried Benitoite ($2.50-$2.70) which went around as one of the best supported runners all day.

Benitoite was responsible for 60 percent of the total investment.

BETS: Benitoite $5,020 @ $2.70, $2,000 @ $2.70 MULTIPLE TIMES, $1,680 @ $2.70, $1,000 @ $2.70 MULTIPLE TIMES, $5,000 @ $2.60, $4,550 @ $2.60

Salsamor defied the betting drift to take out the Remember Roy Higgins Handicap (2000 metres).

The Busuttin & Young representative was $5.50-$7 on the day but proved too strong over the concluding stages, sustaining a run from the home turn with Thomas Stockdale aboard.

Ghodeleine ($10) was valiant in trying to lead throughout and wound up second after being $21 in the morning.

Star Missile ($4.40-$9-$8.50) was a drifter but ran on strongly for third.

Of the rest there was a long range move for Fanciful Toff ($15-$6.50).
