Champion six-year-old Black Heart Bart returns to the track this weekend as he looks to take out the Group 1 Goodwood at Morphettville for the second year running.
The Darren Weir-trained galloper’s last run was back in February when he took out the Group 1 Futurity Stakes.
Punters clearly think Bart can maintain the recent form that has seen him collect five Group 1′s in the last 12 months while placing second in another three.
Currently priced at $3.60, Black Heart Bart holds just under 50% of all stakes wagered on the race.
Interestingly, the second best-backed runner is $26 outsider Lucky Liberty.
The lightly raced five-year-old is yet to win at Group level but trialled well recently at Caulfield where he flew home to knock off Goodwood rivals Malaguerra and Illustrious Lad by several lengths.
The Henry Dwyer-trained gelding holds more than triple the amount of the next best-backed runner, Vega Magic.
