After winning her fourth-straight Cox Plate last October, Winx will aim to extend another impressive feature race winning streak in the 2019 Queen Elizabeth Stakes at Royal Randwick on April 13 and has been priced as a $1.25 favourite by TAB to complete the hat-trick.
Her biggest rival according to TAB’s market is this year’s breathtaking Caulfield Guineas winner and stablemate The Autumn Sun, who has been installed as the $4.50 favourite for the 2019 Doncaster Mile at Royal Randwick on April 6.
“Winx was $1.24 when the barriers opened for this year’s Queen Elizabeth Stakes which she won by almost four lengths, but the seven-year-old mare was even shorter at $1.12 when victorious in 2017 by over five lengths,” TAB’s Gerard Middleton said.
TAB has opened markets for six of the Group 1’s during The Championships in 2019.
“Dual Everest winner Redzel is the TAB’s $6 favourite for the T.J. Smith Stakes ahead of this year’s winner Trapeze Artist ($8) in the feature sprint on Day 1 of The Championships,” Middleton said.
“Along with the Queen Elizabeth Stakes, the Sydney Cup is another great race on Day 2 of The Championships and Finche and Youngstar, who finished fourth and sixth respectively in this year’s Melbourne Cup, have opened $8 equal favourites with TAB.”
TAB has also provided a market for The Everest in 2019 with Redzel a $6 favourite to win the world’s richest race on turf for the third straight year.
