6/5/2023 Horse Racing Tips and Best Bets – Morphettville, Robert Sangster Stakes day

8 King’s Crossing (Bet Now:  $SP.00) on top in the opener. He looks like he is heading to the Derby next Saturday so will be interesting to see what level of intent there is. I am guessing there will be some intent given he is a 64 rater and needs to get higher up in ratings to be secured of a start. He was there to win at Geelong last time and looked the winner but ran a narrow second to Instigator. Back in trip looks fine, he’s proven at the trip and is the one with upside/progression.

4 Eaglelou (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is unknown at 2000m but he is racing like he will appreciate it. Market wanted him with confidence when racing over 1550m on the Parks track a fortnight back where he was chasing from a fair way out but he got better as the race went on and drove hard late for a strong win. Off that, I think 2000m is fine, and the depth isn’t deep, so he’s one of the leading contenders.

5 Silent Surrente (Bet Now:  $SP.00) looks hard to beat for the Clarken/O’Shea camp. This girl hasn’t done much wrong since joining the stable from Team McEvoy, the latest run being two weeks ago over 1950m on the Parks track when near the speed and battled on really well but couldn’t withstand the finale of Azaly. Back on the course proper and up to 2000m, think she only runs well.

2 My Khalifa (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is an absolute beauty for the Richards/Moyle. He got a well deserved Stakes win two weeks ago in the City Of Adelaide, aided by a ripping steer from Neindorf, who sat him back, wide with cover, before presenting clear air and he let down with purpose to win well. If he can translate his Parks form to the course proper, he’ll take a power of beating.

1 Regalo Di Gaetano (Bet Now:  $SP.00) has the runs on the board compared to most and looks like he is the one with timing. He ran in the City Of Adelaide a fortnight back and was very good from near last, beaten just under two lengths by track specialist My Khalifa. Great record at the mile and can settle much closer in the run. Has to be respected.

8 Pudding (Bet Now:  $SP.00) can be a big improver here. Team Jolly trained gelding that resumed two weeks back in the City Of Adelaide where he got back in the run and made up minor headway without threatening behind My Khalifa. Much better suited at 1600m and can settle closer in the run, so with good upside, I wouldn’t be dismissing him.

9 Noble Magnate (Bet Now:  $SP.00) has done little wrong in a four start career and is one of the key chances. That said, he has been somewhat disappointing from a punters perspective in both runs back from a spell. Did too much work fresh in a total forgive behind Press Down before racing here a fortnight back where he was tucked in near the speed and was there to win but couldn’t quite let down when fourth to Lounge Bar Rubi. Third up, hard fit now, you’d think this is D-Day.

10 Saville (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is sneaky flying and can certainly win. He’s been strong in two runs back from a spell, catching the eye fresh behind Shirshov before bumping into that horse again three weeks back and was pretty good from the back, beaten two lengths and produced decent late splits. Think a fast run 1050m is ideal and if he can settle closer in the run, he’ll be hard to hold out.

1 The Magistrate (Bet Now:  $SP.00) can be a big improver here for Sam Burford. He resumed two weeks back on the Parks track over 1000m where the market said he’d need the run and that is how it panned out, beaten just over three lengths by Prairie Fire. Better for the run under the belt and his best is certainly good enough to take this out.

3 General Beau (Bet Now:  $SP.00) ran well on this day last year in the Tobin Bronze and would love to get another Stakes win to put on the CV given he still has his manhood. He resumed two weeks back in the Irwin and was pretty solid from off the speed without threatening behind Kallos. He can settle much closer in the run and has a pretty solid second up record.

6 Larimer Street (Bet Now:  $SP.00) won’t know himself with 54kg on his back. Be forgiving of the run in the Irwin when back, dragged back, from the wide gate, and at WFA, he just couldn’t get involved when down the track behind Kallos. Gets good weight relief this time around and can settle much closer in the run from the gate. Dangerous.
Long Shot: What a story it would be with 2 Savatoxl. A previous winner of the Goodwood that went no good soon after so returned to Alice Springs and resum

He returns to Adelaide where he produced his best…can he win? I wouldn’t say no, but I think he is more of a first four contender.

No doubt they are bursting to win a Stakes race with 3 Remedies (Bet Now:  $SP.00) and she gets a golden chance here. She ran three weeks ago in the Dequetteville when near the speed throughout and tried her guts out but just lacked any real change up speed, running third to dominant winner Stretan Angel. Back to this level, on speed, she’ll take beating.

4 Chilled… (Bet Now:  $SP.00) not sure there is petrol left in the tank, but she is a hard fit filly that is in form and will be strong at the end. She ran a fortnight back in the Mornington Sires where she was on speed throughout and tried her guts out but six furlongs just found her out when run down late by Claymore Mine. Like her back in trip, good racing style and she’ll look the winner for a long way.

5 Iphimedia (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is unbeaten in one career outing so she has to be respected. That debut win came on Terang Cup Day where she led throughout and was strong to the line in winning, albeit the inside was certainly fine at that stage of the meeting. That said, the form was franked at Warrnambool on Tuesday and maps to get a sweet run in transit.

6 Dynasties (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is flying for Team Snowden and with normal luck, I think she’ll be around the mark for sure. She ran in the Hawkesbury Cup and despite running 11/14, beaten six lengths, she should have been right in the finish. Had no luck in the straight and pretty much went around like a barrier trial. That was her first run in a month so she has good room for improvement and has the quality.

4 Foxy Frida (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a ripping mare for Andrew Noblet that should take beating here. She was a narrow second in this race last year but looks spot on for this time around off the back of a strong win fresh in the Bendigo Bracelet five weeks ago, letting down with purpose under Egan to win well. Fitter and up to the mile…while the main target is no doubt the Centaurea in two weeks over 2000m, she’s good enough to take this out.

12 Last Girl Love (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is capable. Dominant win two back over 1800m before having a freshen up. She wen to the City Of Adelaide a fortnight back and was pretty good I thought from near last on the turn, beaten just under three lengths by My Khalifa. Gets a much better set up this time around and back to Mares grade, she is to be respected.

Godolphin are very good when it comes to placing their runners to advantage and this has been a set play for 4 Zapateo (Bet Now:  $SP.00). She comes here off two strong wins at Stakes level in Sydney, the latest being four weeks ago in The Sapphire at Randwick where she made an absolute mess of them in what pretty much was a trial for her. Edge off the track is perfect, sits off a good speed and will take holding out.

6 Passive Aggressive (Bet Now:  $SP.00) has the runs on the board and has to be respected. Resumed with a bang when winning at Randwick, beating the likes of Eduardo and Giga Kick, before finding the 1200m of the TJ Smith a bridge way too far when down the track behind I Wish I Win. Kept on ice with this race in mind and back to Mares grade, she’s going to take beating.

13 Ruthless Dame (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a very, very interesting runner. Maher/Eustace trained filly that was absolutely enormous two back in the Surround before a down the track effort in a brutally run Coolmore Classic. Another stable that are very good with placement and this filly has been set for this race, plus 3YO’s do have a good record, so she has to be given a winning chance.

8 Seven Veils (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is clearly on top for me. She’s back and back in a big way IMO. Formerly with Mark Newnham, she had her first run for the Maher/Eustace camp two weeks ago in the Redelva where she made a sustained run with the big weight and found the line with real purpose to run second to I’mlovinya. Can settle much closer in the run and fitter, up to 1200m, keen on her.

7 She Dances (Bet Now:  $SP.00) will jump on the bunny and prove hard to run down. She did that three weeks ago in the VOBIS Gold Dash at Sandown where she led throughout and spanked them, winning by a space and running fast time relative to the meeting. Should find the front here and with Meech on, she’ll get control and take running down.

11 Grey River (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a second up winner and has to be respected for Jon O’Connor. This filly resumed two weeks back in the Redelva where she did a bit too much work on speed from the wide gate and that early burn just told late behind I’mlovinya. Might want one more run and a rise to 1400m, but she’ll be better for the run under the belt and be strong at the end.

1 Jacks On Ice (Bet Now:  $SP.00) has found winning form and he can go on with it now. Market said he was a moral when racing over this trip at Gawler last time where Toeroek rode him like he was the best horse in the race and in a driving go, he was able to get the job done. He was only second up there so he has room for improvement and the depth here, as a whole, isn’t strong.

5 Siyata (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a mare with good talent who can certainly win. They rode her cold a fortnight back on the Parks track and did make up ground but was never really a threat behind Prairie Fire, beaten four lengths. Can settle much closer in the run if need be and back onto the bigger track, she has shown enough to suggest not to dismiss her.

6 Knightstown (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is capable with his best. Richards/Moyle trained gelding that is third up from a spell and should just about be at peak fitness. Both runs this time in have come at this track/distance, the latest being three weeks back when back off the speed and being asked for an effort, he responded okay but was never really a threat to Lounge Bar Rubi. His best is good enough. Just want to see him do it.
