A strong nine race card has been set down for Eagle Farm this Saturday. The weather is fine, the track is good (4) and the rail is out seven metres for the entire circuit.

6 Ostermeier (Bet Now: $6.50) each way for me. He ran last Saturday in the Brisbane Handicap where he was back near last in the run and while he was never a winning threat, I liked the way he finished his race off behind Mighty Ulysses. Up in trip, fitter, right down in the weights, he’ll spot them a start but be strong late.

2 Youth Spirit (Bet Now: $6.50) is first up for GaiBott and is dangerous. This guy is resuming, with his last run coming in The Beauford at Newcastle when producing an end of prep run, finishing down the track behind Stroke Of Luck. He has trialled well enough in readiness for the return and the stable were very good with these sort of races last year with the likes of Serpentine.

4 Fifth Position (Bet Now: $5.00) is a beauty for Tony Gollan and isn’t far off a win I feel. He ran over the mile here a fortnight back and tried his guts out from just off the speed but couldn’t quite get the win when a narrow third to Wapiti in a blanket finish. I do like him up to 1800m and this isn’t an overly deep race I feel.

9 Mayfair Spirit (Bet Now: $5.00) is third up from a spell and should just about be at peak fitness. This guy was kept pretty safe in betting a few weeks back at Doomben where he was right up the inside fence, trying to save ground, and did keep finding the line in a good effort behind Sonora. If he can get to the outside and have clear air, time to wind up, he’ll take beating.

3 Rising Pacific (Bet Now: $4.00) commands respect. He has been strong in two runs back from a spell, resuming at Doomben and was good in defeat behind Bowrider before racing at Eagle Farm a few weeks ago where he got a fair way out of his ground but didn’t mind the way he finished his race off behind Iverson. Hard fit, can settle closer, dangerous.

1 Hyde… (Bet Now: $19.00) the jury is out on him. He has failed to beat a runner home in his past two runs, the latest being a few weeks back at Eagle Farm behind Iverson where he got into a midfield spot and failed to fire a shot, going backwards when asked. His best is good enough to win so I am not dismissing him…yet.

4 Argyle Pink (Bet Now: $8.50) can bounce back. Tony Gollan trained mare that ran over 1350m at Doomben three weeks back where she was ridden with a sit and she didn’t fire, finishing down the track behind Sonora. I think she races best when she has clear air and on speed. Big improver if that can eventuate.

3 Typhoon Taavi (Bet Now: $1.65) is flying for Tony Gollan and commands respect. This mare has won her past two, both over 1200m at Doomben where each time she has produced sustained speed from the front and has gapped her rivals. Good test here against some likely mares, but she is on the up and has a great racing style.

9 Shohei (Bet Now: $6.00) is an interesting runner. Formerly with Team Hawkes, she is now with Kelly Schweida, likely in search of some blacktype at some stage. Her best is certainly good enough to be dangerous against these, and has trialled up well enough in readiness, so watch the market and see what it does.

11 Blakmax (Bet Now: $3.00) should take a power of beating here for Tony Gollan. He resumed over 1200m at Doomben where he got back to near last in the run and while he was never a winning threat, I really liked the way he found the line late in the piece in a strong return behind Typhoon Taavi. Hard to beat if he can use the inside gate to advantage.

6 Hollywood North (Bet Now: $8.50) looks to have returned in really good order. Stuart Kendrick trained gelding that resumed last Saturday here where he got back to near last in the run and against the race shape, he found the line with real purpose in an excellent return behind Ovidius. Fitter and up in trip, he’ll be hard to beat if within range.

4 Linthorpe Lad (Bet Now: $31.00) looks to be in for a good prep for Kevin Kemp. This guy resumed a few weeks ago over 1350m at Doomben where he got off the speed and while he was never a winning threat, he kept chasing and was quite good in defeat behind Arentee. Fitter and up to the 1400m, bigger track, he’ll take holding out I’d suggest.

10 Keep Your Cool (Bet Now: $5.50) has come back in really good order for Ciaron Maher. This filly is 2/2 this time in, letting down with purpose to win fresh on the Kenso before going to Gosford where she gave them a start and a beating, letting down with purpose to win and win well. Like her up in trip and right down in the weights, she rates highly.

4 Weigall Tiger (Bet Now: $3.90) is one of the better runners in the field and has a great racing style. He resumes for Kelly Schweida, having not raced since the Magic Millions Guineas when producing an end of prep run, finishing down the track behind Abounding. Trialled well in readiness for his return, good racing style and is tough.

9 Velozes (Bet Now: $12.00) is an improving filly for Tony Gollan. She was runner up in both career outings before going to 1350m at Doomben where she was a good thing on paper and despite a few nervous moments in the run, class came to the fore and she was much too good. Confident she can measure up.

All you can do is win and that is what 2 Zouna (Bet Now: $5.50) has done in two career outings. Impressive debut winner before racing several weeks ago at Eagle Farm where he got back off the speed and knuckled down strongly late to win and win well. He’s a nice horse, heading in the right direction, and you don’t know how good they are til they’re beaten.

7 Mishani Lily (Bet Now: $2.70) will jump on the bunny and take running down. She was a dominant winner a few weeks ago at Doomben, producing sustained speed from the outset and gave nothing else a look in, winning by a space and running good time. With her racing style, she’s going to give an awesome sight.

10 Madrina (Bet Now: $12.00) looks prepped right up for this. GaiBott trained filly that resumes after a two run Summer prep, where she placed each time, showing good early speed and just failed to get the job done. Been given a good break in search of some blacktype and her trial work to get ready has been very good.

10 Warby (Bet Now: $2.80) for me. Tony Gollan trained gelding that resumes, having not raced since Wave Day at the Gold Coast when a mile back and made up good ground without threatening behind Lavish Empire. He’s been given a good break, trialled up well in readiness, maps perfect…he’ll do me.

9 Devastating (Bet Now: $8.50) has had a couple of runs at 1000m to start the prep and is racing like 1200m will suit. Both runs have come over 1000m here, the latest being two weeks ago when a closing second to impressive winner and stablemate Hidden Wealth. Like him up to 1200m and with a more positive steer, he’ll take beating.

15 Liberty Steps (Bet Now: $7.50) is an improver for Nat McCall. He did more than enough fresh over 1200m before coming back to 1000m two weeks back and was good late without threatening behind Hidden Wealth. Back up to 1200m, hard fit now, kind map, dangerous for sure.

9 Wee Nessy (Bet Now: $8.00) is a ripping mare for Price/Kent. She comes here off the back of a Group win, taking out The Sapphire at Randwick where she got the A1 run in transit and was dominant late. Maps perfect, handles juice in the track and Hippo on, she’ll do me against these.

1 Uncommon James (Bet Now: $3.70) is the class of the field and that will carry him a long way towards victory. He resumed several weeks ago in The Galaxy where he had a suck run in transit behind the speed before angling clear and tried hard but just lacked the hard fitness to get the job done. Back home, back miles in depth, he rates highly.

4 Prince Of Boom (Bet Now: $9.00) is a talented animal for Rob Heathcoate who has a good racing style and is dangerous. He resumed in the Ascot Handicap a fortnight back where he just found them a bit sharp at 1000m but he stayed on and was solid enough in defeat behind The Big Goodbye. Fitter and up to 1200m, lands on speed, he’ll take running down.

I can see 17 Chica Mojito (Bet Now: $26.00) running a positive race at a big price. Former Kiwi that made her Australian debut in the James Carr on the bottomless deck at Randwick and I thought she closed off with intent on the testing surface. She has very strong form at the mile in NZ, enormous upside, Waller polish and for mine, she is one here who has some form of intent whereas some of these have eyes on 2000m+.

11 Press Link (Bet Now: $7.00) is a horse I have time for and I am not dropping off him. He was off a freshen up when racing two weeks ago in the Daybreak Lover. He just took too long to wind into his work but I liked his finale behind Exotique Miss. Off that effort, he will eat up the mile and with good upside/improvement to come, he rates highly.

9 Transatlantic (Bet Now: $6.00) is a beauty for Tony Gollan and has a good racing style. He was 1600m back to 1400m when racing in the Daybreak Lover. He was on speed and tried his guts out but was just outmuscled late by Exotique Miss in a driving go. Good racing style and back up to the mile, he rates highly.
