Race 1. (12:38) BRC Membership Plus Handicap (70) 1000m
5 Liquor (Bet Now: $SP.00) will jump on the bunny and take running down. Sharp all the way winner at this track/distance two back before going to 1110m at Doomben three weeks ago where she couldn’t find the front, couldn’t get control, and felt the pinch late in the piece behind Perfect Mission. Much better set up here back to 1000m and if she finds the front, she’ll be hard to get past.
4 Amity Gal (Bet Now: $SP.00) is a talented mare for David Vandyke that resumes. This girl is first up, having not raced since July 8 at Doomben when leading and giving a solid kick but couldn’t quite finish it off when third to Skidamarink. Interesting she resumes without a trial but she is a bomb fresh horse who likes Eagle Farm. Think she’ll take beating fresh.
1 Kat China (Bet Now: $SP.00) is a Gary Duncan trained gelding that resumes. This guy is first up, having not raced since August 5 at Eagle Farm when perhaps at the end of his prep when down the track behind Dalavin. He does sprint well on the fresh side who likes Eagle Farm and has trialled well, so watch the market and see what it does.
Race 2. (13:13) Seasons Greetings From BRC Plate (Class 3) 1810m
12 Madame Odette (Bet Now: $SP.00) should love the rise in trip for Tony Gollan. This mare has been strong in two runs back from a spell where each time she has got off the speed and found the line with purpose, the latest being three weeks ago over the Doomben when a closing third to Alberich. Getting towards peak fitness now and up to 1800m, can settle closer…all points to her IMO.
10 Princess Rhaenys (Bet Now: $SP.00) is getting towards D-Day for Tony Gollan. She has threatened to be a good horse since relocating from Peter Moody but she has just been teasing. Latest run was three weeks ago over the mile at Doomben and she was quite good from the back when a close up third to Rousseau. Hard fit now, bigger track…she’s nearing last chance territory.
2 Uncommon Valour (Bet Now: $SP.00) is a key threat. He ran over 1700m at Ipswich last time out where he got back off the speed and kept chasing in a good effort when a narrow second to Patmos Island. He’s a three year old taking on the older horses but he’s holding his form well…one to entertain for wider multiples.
Race 3. (13:48) Nova 106.9 Handicap (Class 6) 1600m
7 Chayse N Artie (Bet Now: $SP.00) is one of the key chances. Les Kelly trained gelding that resumed two weeks back at Doomben over 1350m where he got a fair way out of his ground, back to near last in the run, and made up very good headway in the straight without being a winning threat behind impressive winner The Face. Much better set up this time around and with more upside than most, he appeals.
5 Starzam (Bet Now: $SP.00) is racing well for Kelly Schweida and I think 1400m on the bigger track will be an ideal set up. He ran over 1350m at Doomben a fortnight back when not using the inside gate to advantage, settling back in the run but did get clear air and found the line strongly when third to the very much in form The Face. If he gets to the outside, gets a chance to build momentum, he’ll take holding out.
4 Blacklog (Bet Now: $SP.00) is one I can entertain for wider multiples. He is three weeks between runs since racing over the mile at Doomben where he got back off the speed and made up solid headway late in the straight when a close up fourth to Rousseau in a tidy effort. He’s hard to catch at times in terms of winning but he should be around the mark.
Race 4. (14:23) XXXX Handicap (78) 1200m
9 Fumiko (Bet Now: $SP.00) commands respect for Tony Gollan. Formerly with Kristen Buchanan, first run for Gollan came over 1000m at the Sunny Coast where she got back and caught the eye late when second to noted 1000m specialist Nord Lyon. If she can settle closer in the run and be within range, she’ll take holding out.
7 Parachuter (Bet Now: $SP.00) is an in form mare for Team Edmonds and rates highly against these. This mare was odds on last time out at Ipswich and despite nervous moments in the run, class came to the fore and she was much too good for her rivals. She has run well in town previously, she has a good racing style and this race is very winnable if she produces better racing manners compared to last time.
11 My Snow Queen (Bet Now: $SP.00) is a knockout hope for David Vandyke. Down the track two back at Doomben behind Perfect Mission before going to the midweeks at Ipswich when back off the speed and kept finding the line in a solid effort behind the in form Hardware Lane. Back to Mares grade, not sure I could back her to win but she pinch a first four spot.
Race 5. (14:58) Magic Millions Handicap (85) 1200m
8 Perfect Mission (Bet Now: $SP.00) has done a super job since joining Annabel. Did more than enough first up behind Liquor before appreciating a rise in trip three weeks ago at Doomben, finishing best under a lovely steer from Wheeler. Think up to 1200m should be fine and third run back from an extended break, she should just about be at peak fitness.
5 Safework (Bet Now: $SP.00) should prove hard to beat here. He ran over 1110m three weeks ago at Doomben, his first run since Sep 30, and I thought he was very good in defeat, closing off hard from near last on the turn when second to Perfect Mission. Good improvement to come, he loves the Eagle Farm 1200m, can settle much closer…all points to him running well.
6 Sir Warwick (Bet Now: $SP.00) is a Jake Capewell trained gelding that resumes. He hasn’t raced since Oct 14 over this track/distance when back in the run and yes, was held up, but he was far from disgraced in defeat behind Ekaterina. He likes Eagle Farm, he can sprint well fresh, and interesting he resumes without a trial from what I can see, so watch the market.
Race 6. (15:33) Roku Gin Handicap (78) 1400m
7 Sha Of Gomer (Bet Now: $SP.00) seems to race best on the fresh side and for mine, he strikes a winnable race here. He ran at the Sunny Coast several weeks ago when back off the speed from a tricky gate and presented to win but couldn’t quite get there when third to National Choice, beaten a length. That was his first run in several weeks and the pattern is there to suggest he races best when several weeks between runs.
4 The Drover (Bet Now: $SP.00) can bounce back for Nat McCall. He ran over 1350m at Doomben two weeks ago when ridden with early to land on speed and I think using the petrol tickets early, he was found wanting in the straight, finishing down the track behind The Face. I do think he races better at Doomben vs Eagle Farm but his prior form was sound so don’t dismiss him.
1 Beaufort Park (Bet Now: $SP.00) is an improver at odds for Les Kelly. He resumed there weeks back in the Recognition at Doomben where he got off the speed and tried hard but given the race was an on pace domination, he was never really a factor behind Zarastro but the run itself was a pass mark. Might want one more run, but bigger track, 1400m, more genuine tempo, he can run an improved race.
Race 7. (16:12) Grand Prix Stakes 2112m
6 Imezaaki (Bet Now: $SP.00) looks a promising three year old for Bjorn Baker. He was very good against the tempo at Scone two back before stepping up to 2000m at Hawkesbury last time where he gave them a start and a beating in an electric performance, winning comfortably and was strong to the line, so 2100m here is no issue and I think returning to a bigger track, he’ll eat it up.
4 Kirikan (Bet Now: $SP.00) looks the other key threat. He ran last Friday night over 1900m in a Canterbury maiden where he was ridden with real intent under Tommy Berry, sitting on speed and he was very strong when challenged late in getting the win, so the rise in trip is fine and a Waller horse on a back up = gold.
5 Winsome Star (Bet Now: $SP.00) has the engine under the hood to take this out. He doesn’t have the best of racing patterns but he can launch late, as seen two weeks back in the Eagle Way when back near last in the run and working home well when fourth to More Trouble, beaten just under four lengths. If he’s within range, he has the finale to be dangerous.
Race 8. (16:52) Gold Edition Plate 1200m
4 Deep Respect (Bet Now: $SP.00) has eyes on the Magic Millions Guineas and commands respect. He resumed a fortnight back in the Pierata where he was a bit flat footed when the sprint went on but he picked up and was solid to the line behind Beautantes when fourth. Fitter, bigger track…staying at 1200m a slight query but with a positive ride, he’ll take holding out.
9 Abounding (Bet Now: $SP.00) should be around the mark for Rob Heathcoate. Sharp first up winner before going to the Mode Stakes two weeks ago where she looked a moral on paper but she let the punters down when a narrow second to surprise winner West Of Dalby. She was several weeks between runs there so with room for improvement, I think she has to be given another chance.
3 Defiant Spirit (Bet Now: $SP.00) is getting towards last chance territory. Led and was pipped first up at the Sunny Coast before going to the Pierata two weeks ago at Doomben where I thought Maloney gave him a peach and he looked the winner on the turn but didn’t finish it off the way he looked like he would when third to Beautantes. He has the talent to win but is becoming hard to trust. Last chance territory IMO.
Race 9. (17:32) Lough Neagh Stakes 1400m
A decent price is available for 3 Eleven Eleven (Bet Now: $SP.00) and I think he’s worth a throw at the stumps. Total forgive first up in The Warra at Kembla on Gong Day when wide throughout and was on testing ground behind Insurrection. That is turning out to be a hot form race and he’ll love getting to 1400m on firmer footing, plus he loves racing in Queensland.
4 Far Too Easy (Bet Now: $SP.00) is a quality galloper that rates highly. He hasn’t raced since The Kosciuszko when back from the wide gate and working home with real purpose late in the piece behind talented animal Front Page. He has been plagued by injury since but his trial last week at Ballina was quite strong and 1400m with fresh legs, you’d like to think he’s fit.
1 Scallopini (Bet Now: $SP.00) has a great 1400m record and getting to that trip here, he commands respect. He was kept very safe in betting when resuming three weeks ago at Doomben in the Recognition and I thought he had his chance from just off the speed, battling in the run to the line behind all the way winner Zarastro. Gets a much better set up this time around and has class in his own right.
Race 10. (18:12) Eva Air Evergreen Handicap 1810m
3 Knight’s Choice (Bet Now: $SP.00) has finally found winning form and he can certainly go on with it. He was bursting to win a race and it came two weeks ago at Doomben over 2000m, giving them a start and a beating, proving quite strong in the run to the line. Back in trip I find interesting, but should be strong late and now he’s found winning form, he can go on with it.
2 Dune Forty Five (Bet Now: $SP.00) is racing like he will appreciate a rise to 1800m. He has run over the mile his past two, winning the Mooloolaba Cup two back at the Sunny Coast before going to the Tails Stakes a fortnight back at Doomben when off the speed and was a bit flat in the run to the line behind impressive winner Acquitted. Think a rise in trip will suit, as will getting to a bigger track, and the depth here isn’t overly deep.
4 Military Gambler (Bet Now: $SP.00) is in with a shout for Chris Munce. He was off a let up when racing at Doomben two weeks back in the Tails Stakes where he got back to near last in the run and while he was never a winning threat, he did make up headway and was a definite pass mark in defeat behind Acquitted. More upside than most and can settle much closer in the run. Dangerous.
