Race 1. (12:10) The Valley @ Sandown Hcp 1500m
I am not sure 4 Lepolo (Bet Now: $3.50) beat much on debut on the Ballarat Synthetic but the manner in which he put them away was that of a promising horse. Not a deep race so I think he can measure up against these.
3 Cignetti (Bet Now: $2.25) comes back to town off the back of a first up win at Sale, leading throughout and gave nothing else a look in to win and win well, Good racing style, he commands respect.
6 Glide (Bet Now: $10.00) steps up to 1500m after racing over 1400m here two weeks back when off speed and failed to come on when down the track behind Judas Tree. Like him up in trip and with (hopefully) firmer footing, he’s dangerous.
Race 2. (12:40) Ladbrokes Popular Srm Hcp (Bm74) 1600m
6 Blue Willow (Bet Now: $SP.00) comes back to the mile after racing over 1800m last Saturday at Caulfield, getting a fair way out of her ground but was pretty good late behind Politely Dun. Back to Mares grade and back to the mile, she’s dangerous at a price.
3 Jenni Gone Bonkers (Bet Now: $SP.00) is three weeks between runs since racing over 1400m at Caulfield, ridden with intent to land near the front and tried hard but just felt the pinch late behind Recuperato. Think with a more patient steer, she can take this out.
4 Illyivy (Bet Now: $SP.00) steps up to the mile after racing over 1400m three weeks ago at Caulfield, getting off speed and kept chasing in a pretty good effort in defeat behind Recuperato. 1600m should be fine and this looks a very winnable race.
Race 3. (13:15) EDSA Group Hcp (Bm88) 1000m
7 Saluted (Bet Now: $SP.00) ran second at this track/distance a fortnight back, trying hard from just off speed but couldn’t quite get there when second to Final Moment. Hard fit, racing well and with weight relief, appeals against these.
1 Beast Mode (Bet Now: $SP.00) attempted to lead throughout two weeks back at this track/distance and gave a decent sight from the front but just felt the pinch at the end when fourth to Cavalry Girl. Good racing style, last bit will test but he’ll look the winner for a fair way.
4 Behaviour (Bet Now: $SP.00) is three weeks between runs since racing over 1100m at Caulfield when off speed and kept chasing in a pretty good effort in defeat. Back to 1000m suits hard fit, he appeals.
Race 4. (13:50) Drummond Golf Hcp (Bm74) 1300m
3 Cruiserweight (Bet Now: $SP.00) isn’t Mr Brightside 2.0, but he has talent, enough to say he takes care of a 74. Just got too keen in the run at Caulfield last time and felt the pinch late behind Lauberhorn. Tick over jumpout was strong and I think the key to him is riding with a sit, a bunny to chase. Keen.
5 Nic’s Choice (Bet Now: $SP.00) comes back to 1300m after racing over 1400m two weeks ago behind Buccleuch here, getting off speed and did make up ground but was never threatening. Back in trip and hopefully a firmer deck, he’s a big improver.
12 Ivan’s Hero (Bet Now: $SP.00) should be better for the first up run, which came over 1200m here where he seemingly had his chance but battled away well enough in defeat behind Queen Christine. Fitter and up in trip, he runs a positive race.
Race 5. (14:25) Atlantic Jewel Stakes (L) 1300m
10 Portinari (Bet Now: $4.00) on top for me. Real eye catcher from the Quezette three weeks ago, getting back to near last in the run but really liked the way she finished her race off behind Natural Fling. Like her up in trip and with a more positive ride, she takes holding out.
4 Pretty Baby (Bet Now: $5.00) is a very interesting runner. Richards/Moyle trained filly that has simply been too good for them in SA, giving her rivals a start and a beating on a couple of occasions. Good test here but think she’ll measure up.
11 La Barrita (Bet Now: $20.00) is a Team McEvoy trained filly that resumes after a Brisbane Winter prep where she won her maiden before a fourth over 1400m in the Tatts Stakes. Better suited over further but has jumped out well and will be strong late.
Race 6. (15:00) Mckenzie Stakes (L) 1300m
5 Wolf Gap (Bet Now: $SP.00) is a talented three year old for Team Freedman that hasn’t raced since the Todman when placing behind Paradoxium and was spelled soon after. Given a good break, looks to have jumped out well, he’s here to play IMO.
2 Closer To Free (Bet Now: $SP.00) is three weeks between runs since resuming in the Vain at Caulfield when off speed and kept chasing but did seemingly have his chance behind Hard Kick. Fitter and up in trip, more positive ride, he’ll take beating.
7 Put To The Sword (Bet Now: $SP.00) should appreciate getting to 1300m after racing over 1200m at Caufield Heath, getting a fair way out of his ground but really liked the way he finished his race off in defeat. Fitter and up in trip, he only runs well.
Race 7. (15:35) So You Think Stakes 1500m
2 Evaporate (Bet Now: $1.95) is three weeks between runs since resuming in the PB Lawrence, ridden with intent to lead and tried hard but just felt the pinch at the end behind Cosmic Crusader. Much better suited at this level, he takes beating I say.
9 Freedom Rally (Bet Now: $18.00) was knocking on the door to win and that win came two weeks ago here, sitting off speed before coming with a well timed run to score. He’s found that winning feeling again, he can go on with it.
5 Regal Zeus (Bet Now: $34.00) is worthy of an each way ticket. He ran fifth to Freedom Rally two weeks back here, attempting to lead throughout and tried hard, but just felt the pinch late. Better for the run, firmer footing, he can run a much improved race at odds.
Race 8. (16:15) Moir Stakes (G1) 1000m
1 Giga Kick (Bet Now: $SP.00) has the runs on the board and commands respect. He hasn’t raced since the All Aged when down the track behind Beiwacht, a form line which clearly reads well for this. Jumped out well, class is going to carry him a long way.
9 Cavalry Girl (Bet Now: $SP.00) is humming for Tom Dabernig and commands respect. She won the Carlyon two weeks back, getting the suck run in behind and finished best to score. Great test here at Group l level but she has earned a crack.
4 Generosity (Bet Now: $SP.00) is humming for Chris Waller and is so dynamic on the fresh side. She has had a couple of trials in Sydney and each time has looked very, very strong. She is a bomb fresh horse and will love a fast run 1000m.
Race 9. (16:50) Chautauqua Stakes (G3) 1300m
6 Persian Spirit (Bet Now: $SP.00) steps up to 1300m after resuming over 1200m at Caulfield in the Regal Roller, closing strongly from off speed but just missed when second. Fitter and up in trip, bigger track, he takes a power of beating I say against these.
3 Warnie (Bet Now: $SP.00) was the eye catcher in the Regal Roller. He got back to near last in the run and worked home with real purpose in a good effort in defeat behind Shadhavar. If within range, he has the finale to be dangerous.
8 Klabel (Bet Now: $SP.00) comes through the Carkyon where he found them a bit sharp but kept chasing and was far from disgraced in defeat behind Cavalry Girl. Like him up to 1300m, he’s dangerous.
Race 10. (17:25) Powerflo Solutions Hcp (Bm84) 1600m
5 Changing Colours (Bet Now: $SP.00) is four weeks between runs since an impressive win at Caulfield Heath, giving her rivals a start and a beating in an impressive performance. Good test here but had to knock the way she’s racing at present.
4 Stay Silent (Bet Now: $SP.00) is humming for Ciaron Maher. He has won three on the bounce, the latest being here two weeks ago when leading throughout and found plenty under pressure to fend them off and score. Good racing style, he commands respect.
11 Bur Dubai (Bet Now: $SP.00) is a Price/Kent trained gelding that resumes. He hasn’t raced since October 4 when down the track in the Bart Cummings. He’ll be better over further but does have a touch of class.
