5/9/2026 Horse Racing Tips and Best Bets – Randwick, Chelmsford Stakes day

Ten races will be run and won at Randwick this Saturday, with a stack of feature races across the program. The weather is fine, the track is soft (5) and the rail is out three metres for the entire circuit.

Chelmsford Stakes 🏆: View the Field and Odds for the Chelmsford Stakes

1 Felix Majestic (Bet Now: $3.00) is three weeks between runs since racing over this trip at Rosehill, attempting to lead throughout and gave a decent sight but just tired late behind Barbaric Lad. He’ll land in front I say and take running down.

3 Dusty Bay (Bet Now: $3.30) is several weeks between runs since racing at this track/distance, sitting on speed and tried his guts out but couldn’t quite see it through when a close up third to Avista. Good racing style and back to Midway grade, he takes beating.

2 Hellfire Express (Bet Now: $27.00) is a Nathan Doyle trained gelding that resumes. He didn’t quite fire in two runs last prep but has been given a good break and looks to have trialled up really well, so watch betting.

11 Lord Remlap (Bet Now: $5.00) is a Kosciuszko contender IMO so keen to see how he goes. He resumes for Scott Singleton after going 3/3 in his first prep, including a Highway win on the Kenso. Looks to have trialled very well and he’s here to play I suspect.

4 Mrs Goldberg (Bet Now: $3.80) resumed with a bang in the Highway here a fortnight back, sitting just off speed before being presented clear air and away she went to win and win well. Can only see upside/improvement, she takes a power of beating.

9 Royal Exile (Bet Now: $8.00) comes back to Highway grade after being thrown in the deep end in The Rosebud. He was kept safe in betting but didn’t fire a shot after a suck run. Much better suited here, he appeals.

3 Ernaux (Bet Now: $4.00) takes beating for Chris Waller after a narrow second two weeks ago, trying hard from just off speed but couldn’t quite get there when second to Sovereign Hill, bloused late. Hard fit, racing well, back to Mares grade, she appeals.

1 Kimberley Secrets (Bet Now: $12.00) is on the seven day back up after racing last Saturday at Rosehill, trying hard from on speed but couldn’t quite get there when second to Oh Arthur. Racing well, lands on speed, only runs well.

8 Cosy Corner (Bet Now: $34.00) should prove hard to beat after her second to Melanite several weeks ago in the Midway, closing strongly from off speed but just missed when second. Fitter, she’ll run a positive race.

I was very keen on 1 Thebudgiesmugla (Bet Now: $2.90) two weeks ago and will be buttering up again. My bad in the Premiers Cup and being keen on him because he was at 2000m and they were just a fraction too sharp for him when they sprinted. He’ll love getting to 2400m, he’s one of the hardest to beat.

2 So You Are (Bet Now: $3.00) was kept very safe in betting when having his first start for the Bjorn Baker camp in the Premiers Cup. He tried his guts out but just lacked race fitness and that beat him IMO when second to Boniface. Fitter and up in trip, he’s very dangerous.

6 Sky Lab (Bet Now: $20.00) is sneaky going well for Paul Perry. He ran in the Premiers Cup and while he was never a winning threat, I thought his finale in defeat was pretty good. Doubt he wins but he can run first four.

4 Decorum (Bet Now: $4.80) looks the one if he’s ready to go. He resumes for Michael Freedman, his last run coming in the Randwick Guineas when down the track. Given a good break and his trial work suggests he’s ready to rock and roll. If so, he takes beating.

15 Snack Bar (Bet Now: $21.00) was a host of runners that were unlucky two weeks ago at this track/distance, a race won by Sovereign Hill. He got held up at the wrong stage and lost momentum in an ugly watch. Hard horse to catch but is hard fit and not racing too bad.

8 Super Norwest (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a Matty Dale trained mare that resumes. This girl is first up, having not raced since June 20 here when landing on speed and tired late behind Glorious Moments. Can sprint well fresh, watch betting because her best is good enough.

Hard to ignore what 2 Pembrey (Bet Now: $2.00) did in the Silver Shadow. She did get front end control but the way she dashed and motored away from her rivals…it was stunning. Staying at 1200m, similar field…if it reads as simple as it does on paper, it’s rinse, repeat, she wins again.

6 Bangkok Hottie (Bet Now: $8.00) wouldn’t have beaten Pembrey in the Silver Shadow but if she drew a decent gate, I think she goes close. She was very good against the race shape, closing with real purpose. If she can settle closer, she’s dangerous.

5 Rachini (Bet Now: $101.00) is a very good filly for Bjorn Baker that resumes. This girl is first up, having not raced since the Percy Sykes where she backed up from the Sires and was a tired horse. Given a good break, trialled super and has been given a good grounding for mine.

I think 7 Idle Flyer (Bet Now: $2.40) has to be top seed here, She was fabulous in defeat fresh in the Winx, hitting thebline with purpose alongside Ceolwulf. Back to this level, kind map, Zac back on, she’s the one to beat.

5 Private Eye (Bet Now: $5.00) was huge in defeat fresh in the PB Lawrence behind Cosmic Crusader given he did work to land on speed and tried his guts out but was nabbed late by Cosmic Crusader. If that hasn’t busted him, he’ll run very well.

9 Soothsayer (Bet Now: $16.00) steps up to 1400m after resuming over 1200m in the Show County where the race shape was against him but he kept chasing and finding the line in defeat when second to Midnight In Tokyo. Fitter and up in trip, he commands respect.

4 Tempted (Bet Now: $1.90) just looks better than these, surely? She is a high class mare that is first up with eyes towards The Everest, her last run seeing her take out the Arrowfield Sprint. Trialled super and she is one of the more lethal first up performers in the country.

1 Headwall (Bet Now: $4.40) is a very good sprinter that resumes for Matty Smith. You’d think he would want to make an Everest statement so despite the extended layoff, I am saying he’s here to play. Has had a good solid grounding for the return and class is going to carry him a long way.

6 Way To The Stars (Bet Now: $151.00) should land in front and take running down. He ran over 1200m in the Missile where he led and tried hard but just felt the pinch late in the piece. Back to 1000m, jump and run, he’ll run very well.

2 Lindermann (Bet Now: $2.80) was a total forgive from the Winx Stakes IMO. He did too much work chasing Midnight Dynamite and tired to finish down the track. Think he gets front end control this time around and takes running down.

Really want to find 9 Fangirl (Bet Now: $3.30) in the Tramway vs this race. Not suited by the fast tempo in the Winx Stakes and was never a factor. More gentle tempo this time around, and with her record, she does have to be given respect, and the yard experts said she was the standout in the Winx.

7 Green Spaces (Bet Now: $9.00) is ticking along nicely towards the Cups. He resumed in the Winx and while he was never a winning threat, I really liked the way he finished his race off in defeat behind Autumn Glow. Think he’ll run a beauty here.

2 Mickey’s Medal (Bet Now: $26.00) is a great each way gamble in the get out. Thought he was a real eye catcher in the Goulburn Cup, getting a fair way out of his ground but really liked the way he finished his race off in defeat behind Just Party. He’ll stalk the speed and be effective late.

9 The Mona Lisa (Bet Now: $7.00) is humming at present for Team Cave. She is four weeks between runs since a track/distance win, finding plenty and surged hard late to score. Good test here but hard to knock the way she’s racing.

3 Fortune (Bet Now: $35.00) is third up from a spell and should be at peak fitness. He just missed fresh in the South Grafton Cup before going to the Coffs Harbour Cup when off speed and just whacked late. Hard fit, his best is clearly good enough.

BEST BET: Race Eight Number 4 Tempted

NEXT BEST: Race Nine Number 2 Lindermann

LONG SHOT: Race Ten Number 2 Mickey’s Medal
