Energizer has become the first German-trained winner at Royal Ascot with his comfortable victory in Thursday’s Tercentenary Stakes.
Jens Hirschberger’s three-year-old was given a confident ride by Adrie de Vries and was produced with a withering run down the outside of the field in the home straight on the rain softened ground.
The 15-2 chance picked up Stipulate heading towards the final furlong (200m) and kicked clear to score by 2-1/2 lengths with Rewarded third.
“This is a great feeling,” Hirschberger said.
“After the (German) Guineas, we wanted to step him up in trip and we found this race.
“He loves the ground, it’s perfect for him.
