The Belmont Winter Carnival continues this Saturday for Belmont Classic Day. The weather is fine, the track is good (4) and the rail is out ten metres for the entire circuit.

7 Godspeed (Bet Now: $4.20) is a son of Playing God that debuts for Team Gangemi. His recent trial win here over 1000m was quite sharp, winning well and running time. Tricky gate but he looks abiogenesis average.

3 Rifleman (Bet Now:  $SP.00) commands respect after a debut placing last Wednesday at this track/distance, closing strongly from off speed in a good effort. If he can be within range he’s got the finale to take this out.

12 Axopar (Bet Now: $9.50) is a Dan Morton trained filly that resumes. She last raced on April 8 when a winner at Pinjarra, winning impressively from off speed. Looks to have trialled well, watch betting and see what it does.

4 Best Mood (Bet Now:  $SP.00) can resume a winner. Team Gangemi trained gelding that resumes, having not raced since Feb 21 when making it 2/2 for the prep at Ascot. Spelled, given a good break and looks to have trialled well for the return. He’ll do me.

7 Sniper’s Son (Bet Now: $5.50) is a few weeks between runs since making it two on the bounce when an on speed winner at Northam, finding plenty and was strong to the line in scoring. Good racing style, he commands respect.

9 Ripper Farooq (Bet Now: $17.00) is a Team Gangemi trained gelding that resumes. His last run was March 11 over 1000m at Ascot when placing behind Slip The Jab. He is a horse who can sprint well fresh and his trial was strong.

1 Westbound (Bet Now: $2.60) is the one of two from the Winter that I think could well star in the Ascot Carnival. He was superb in the Aquanita two weeks ago, getting better as the race went on to win impressively. He’s the best of the boys and is top seed for me.

3 Ladies Pro (Bet Now: $1.55) is the second horse of the two mentioned above. She was arrogant in the Belmont Oaks a fortnight back, giving them a start and a beating in such an impressive effort. She’s destined for better races and keen to see how she goes against Westbound.

6 Autumn Gem (Bet Now: $41.00) is one for exotics. She ran fifth in the Belmont Oaks two weeks back where she got off speed and worked home okay without threatening. Doubt she wins but is a lock for top four.

7 Olympic Park (Bet Now:  $SP.00) has found winning form and he can go on with it, that win coming over 1400m here two weeks ago when giving them a start and a beating in an impressive effort. Maps ideally and gets Pike sticking. Keen on his prospects.

10 Our Mare Archie (Bet Now: $4.50) absolutely lapped up the mud when a track/distance winner at the midweeks last start, winning by a space and seemingly had something in reserve. Harder here, but off last run, I say he’ll measure up against these.

4 Noteworthy (Bet Now: $12.00) was 1600m back to 1400m when racing two weeks back here and just found them a bit sharp when down the track behind Olympic Park. Like her back up in trip and with her best, she’s good enough to give this a shake.

10 Forgotten Son (Bet Now: $19.00) has earned a crack in town after winning two on the bounce, the latest win being last Thursday at Northam when giving them a start and a beating. Good test but confident he can measure up.

14 Western Miss (Bet Now: $1.50) won last Wednesday over 1700m here, leading throughout and she had panels on an average bunch, winning well. Good test here at Saturday metro grade but think she can measure up and run well.

11 Statewide (Bet Now: $41.00) is on the seven day back up after racing over 1400m here last Saturday where he just found them a bit sharp but was far from disgraced. Like the rise in trip and he finds a thin race.

Going to take a chance on 5 Too Soon (Bet Now: $4.80), who resumes for Team Williams. His last run was the 2025 Lex Piper when an impressive winner from off speed and looked like he could be a Carnival horse last year. He’s had issues but is back, he’s trialled well and big tick is that Pike is booked for the return.

1 Memory Parade (Bet Now: $51.00) resumed two weeks back here behind Olympic Park, the same race that The Merryman contested, and I thought she worked home with real purpose in a pretty solid return. If she can settle closer, she’ll take holding out.

2 The Merryman (Bet Now: $41.00) resumed at this track/distance two weeks ago where he got back in the run and made up minor headway in a pretty plain effort and return. Has the run under the belt now and maps ideally, so I say he’s a big improver.

9 Want A Winner (Bet Now: $2.45) looks the straight bat play. Talented four year old for Team Casey that resumes. His last run was Dec 13 at Ascot when a game second to Haida Gwaii, just missing. Looks to have trialled well enough and Pike booked signals this horse is here to play.

8 The Calabrese (Bet Now: $10.00) ran over this track/distance three weeks ago, getting a fair way out of his ground but worked home with purpose in a pretty good effort in defeat. If he can settle closer and be within range, he’s got the finale to score.

1 Angel Undercover (Bet Now: $19.00) is a Team Casey trained mare that resumes, her last run coming on Jan 3 in the Mandurah Cup when placing, working home well against the race shape. Trial work has been encouraging, she gets the claim…not dismissing.

5 Yes I Know (Bet Now: $4.50) is one of the more fascinating runners on the card. If he runs up to anywhere near his Victorian form, he has lengths on these. Now with Team Gangemi, just one soft trial but if he’s ready, he is the winner.

13 In Confidence (Bet Now: $3.10) is four weeks between runs since resuming over 1000m here where she found them a bit sharp but she kept chasing and finding the line in defeat. Fitter and up in trip, she only runs well.

4 Champagne Crusader (Bet Now: $15.00) is a Simon Miller trained three year old that resumes. He did some nice things when last in work and didn’t trial too bad to my eye so I say watch betting and see what it does.

LONG SHOT: Race One Number 7 Godspeed
