SuperTAB punters are set to pay higher takeout rates on several popular exotic bet types when Tabcorp launches its national tote early in the new racing season.
The changes were confirmed by Tabcorp chief wagering officer Michael Fitzsimons a day after the company announced the long-awaited merger of the SuperTAB, NSWTAB and UTAB pools under the national tote model.
Fitzsimons said the creation of a single national parimutuel pool would require adjustments to takeout rates across a number of exotic wagers.
Under the new structure, the takeout on trifectas for NSW TAB and SuperTAB customers will increase from 21 per cent to 21.5 per cent.
The first four bet type will also rise, with the deduction increasing from 22.5 per cent to 23 per cent.
Meanwhile, the popular quadrella wager will move from a 20 per cent takeout to 20.5 per cent.
Victorian, Western Australian and Australian Capital Territory customers currently bet into the SuperTAB pool and will be among those affected by the revised rates once the national tote is introduced.
Tabcorp believes the national tote will deliver larger betting pools and improved liquidity, although the higher takeout rates mean SuperTAB customers will contribute more towards funding the new wagering model.
