Darley shuttle stallion Harry Angel (IRE) continued his rise in the Australian breeding ranks after posting a career-best local sale result at the Inglis Classic on Monday.
Initially arriving with limited fanfare among a competitive roster, the sire has steadily enhanced his reputation and is building momentum heading into the 2026 breeding season.
Harry Angel covered his largest book to date last spring, serving 165 mares at an increased service fee of $66,000.
His growing profile has been supported by strong racetrack performances, with Group 1 performer Tom Kitten returning to form at Caulfield last Saturday, Angel Capital preparing to resume, and Group 1-winning sprinter Private Harry now in work with trainer Chris Waller.
Kirks Bridge Farm capitalised on that momentum when offering a chestnut colt out of Sretan, a full brother to Group 2 winner Stretan Angel, who finished second in last year’s Group 1 VRC Lightning Stakes.
The powerful colt, noted for his sprinter’s physique, was purchased by Equine Growth Fund Pty Ltd for $540,000, setting a new Australian yearling record for the sire.
Sretan delivered a filly by Harry Angel last spring and was subsequently covered by City Of Troy.
Harry Angel also enjoyed a strong result at the 2023 NZB Ready to Run Sale, where a two-year-old colt out of Monrecour sold for $800,000 to Tartan Meadow Bloodstock and Andrew Williams Bloodstock.
