Revelare will miss the remainder of the season after struggling to recover from an untimely illness.
Trainer Rob Hickmott confirmed on Sunday that the four-year-old, who won all five of his races this preparation, will not run in Saturday’s listed Roy Higgins Quality (2600m) and will instead be sent for a well-deserved spell.
“He just had that little bug that forced us to scratch him the other week and still hasn’t got to the other end of it 100 per cent,” Hickmott told racing.com.
“There’s no use pressing on. You can just cause problems later on down the track, so he’ll have a nice four- or five-week spell before we prepare for a spring campaign.”
Revelare’s unbeaten run this campaign included a win in a Seymour 0-64 in December and his final victory at Flemington on March 1 in a 2000m 0-84 race.
Though he won’t compete in the Roy Higgins, Hickmott remains hopeful for the spring.
“He’s showing a lot of promise, and with another prep under his belt, he can go to another level.”
Revelare is bred for stamina, being by So You Think and out of the Zabeel mare Reveal The Goddess, whose dam, Honor Babe, won the 2003 Sydney Cup.
