Promising two-year-old Nepotism has been sent for a spell after his impressive victory in the Group 1 Champagne Stakes at Randwick last Saturday.
Trained by Team Hawkes, the colt aims to mirror the success of his cousin, Ole Kirk, who claimed the Golden Rose – Caulfield Guineas double in 2020.
“He’s probably a bit more raw this bloke,” said Wayne Hawkes, comparing Nepotism to Ole Kirk.
“Ole Kirk looked a bit more like a two-year-old and this bloke has run at two, but he’s going to fill out a lot more and strengthen up a lot more at three.”
Nepotism debuted just last month, finishing third in the Todman Stakes, before claiming victories in the Baillieu and Champagne Stakes.
Hawkes revealed that the colt has always been an exciting prospect for the family.
“He hasn’t just jumped out of the ground in the last two minutes, he’s always shown a stack of ability,” he said.
