Michelle Payne has been fined $500 for comments she made on social media regarding the Sandown track surface.
A dual licence holder, Payne appeared before stewards on Friday as a licensed jockey to answer a charge of contravening Racing Victoria’s social media policy.
Payne pleaded guilty to a charge of misconduct for her comments.
Stewards took into account her contrition regarding the comments made about the track on Wednesday, her public apology to the Melbourne Racing Club and her acknowledgement her thoughts regarding these matters could be made in a more constructive manner for the betterment of the industry.
They reminded her the track at Sandown, rated a good three, was presented in full compliance with the RV Track Preparation Policy.
