Jockey Luke Cartwright is ready to make his comeback after a three-month recovery from neck and spinal fractures sustained in a fall last November.
“Got the all-clear last Thursday, it was great to get the clearance,” Cartwright said.
He eased back into work, starting with slow riding and galloping, and is focused on regaining race-day fitness.
“I can’t wait to return and I’m hoping to be back at the races in early to mid-March,” he added.
At 18, Cartwright has already notched 48 wins and claimed last season’s Victorian Rising Stars Series.
His family’s stable, led by trainers Leonie Proctor and Lyn Tolson, is in strong form, with recent victories at Sandown.
“We’ve just got a small team of around 15 horses… it’s been fantastic to see how well they’ve been doing,” he said, also looking forward to the return of Curran after a break. “He feels like he’s back to his best.”
