The feature race at Darwin this Monday is the Darwin Cup (2050m), where the market says it is an open race.
Down below is a speed map, runner preview and $100 betting strategy for 2026 Darwin Cup.
2026 Darwin Cup Runner Preview:
1.Casino Seventeen: Casino Seventeen is the class horse, by some distance. He resumed in the Chief Minister’s and worked home strongly when third. Good upside to come, will love getting the rise in trip…just a matter of whether he can handle the weight.
2.Stormageddon: Stormageddon is top seed for me. He was a real eye catcher last time out over the mile Chief Minister’s, closing with real purpose from near last when fourth. He’ll love getting to 2000m, can settle closer, will be strong late…like him.
3.Hadouken: Unbelievable record in this race…but just think his better days are behind him.
4.Magic Defense: Pretty good effort in the Metric Mile but just have a few others ahead of her.
5.Venting: Venting was an enormous winner of the Metric Mile. He was near last and looked to be going nowhere but surged and savaged the line to win. 2000m should be fine, he can win for sure and is worthy of an each way ticket.
6.Watadeel: Pretty good miler so in a hard run 2000m, I think he struggles.
7.Jimi Hendrix: Thought he did a really good job in his NT debut and will love getting to 2000m. He’s a knockout hope.
8.Komachi: He looks cast.
9.Leveraged Buyout: Tough, gritty win in the NT Derby, and is flying, but this is a deep contest and I want to be against him.
10.Wolfburn: He has run well in this previously and will be out of trouble on speed…just think the end of 2000m will see him out.
11.Rematch: Has done little wrong since arriving in the NT and will run well again.
12.Maxxi Bon: He’s the knockout hope because he is flying and has that sense of timing to run very well.
13.Vega Magnifico (First Emergency): SCR
14.Zondee (Second Emergency): SCR
15.Alpine Flyer (Third Emergency): SCR

2026 Darwin Cup Speed Map
Wolfburn looks the leader, though will have Komachi near him putting pressure on. That pair should generate a decent tempo, with the likes of Rematch and Hadouken not being too far away.
