Race 1. (14:23) Mrs Mac's Handicap (72+) 1200m
4 The Calabrese (Bet Now: $2.70) for me. Team Gangemi trained gelding that was an eye catcher two weeks ago at this track/distance, working home with purpose from the back. Maps to settle much closer in the run and will be effective late.
8 Hubble’s Dragon (Bet Now: $8.50) is a talented gelding for Dan Morton that resumes. His last run was Feb 28 over 1400m at Ascot when good late from off speed behind King Hit. Looks to have trialled well and with a drag into the race, he should be strong late and can win.
2 Speed Dream (Bet Now: $91.00) looked in need of the run when resuming two weeks back at this track/distance. He got back off speed but was never a factor. Fitter, kind map…doubt he wins but can run first four.
Race 2. (14:59) Congrats W Pike Handicap (66+) 1400m
5 In Confidence (Bet Now: $1.18) is a slight query at 1400m but she ticks a lot of boxes to offset that. She won over 1200m here two weeks ago, finishing best from off speed to score. 1400m is the query, but hard fit, kind map, and Pike is booked.
1 The Crimson Pirate (Bet Now: $SP.00) is short of his best trip but he does look a nice horse that resumes for Dan Morton. He was very good when last in work and while he likely spots them a start, he should be strong late and a win wouldn’t totally shock.
2 Odinaka (Bet Now: $8.00) comes back to 1400m after racing over the mile two weeks back, trying hard from off speed but found one better in Auto Cruise. Back to 1400m is interesting but will be strong late and is a must for exotics.
Race 3. (15:39) Congrats Hollie Notle Handicap (66+) 1000m
I want to give 6 Long Service Leaf (Bet Now: $2.50) another chance. He was backed as if unbeatable last Saturday at this track/distance but bombed the start and that sealed his fate. With a clean jump, he’ll take holding out based off his prior efforts.
4 Swingman (Bet Now: $8.50) is a Jim Taylor trained three year old that resumes. This guy last raced on May 9 when a game second over this trip at Ascot. Short course type who is tough, very genuine, and should be around the mark as a key contender.
8 Bonnie Lad (Bet Now: $23.00) is three weeks between runs since a track/distance win, sitting back off speed before being presented clear air and wound up hard to win and win well. His confidence is up, he can go on with it.
Race 4. (16:14) Tabtouch Handicap (0MWLY) 1200m
3 Champagne Crusader (Bet Now: $SP.00) should be better for the first up run, which came at this track/distance, getting the suck run in behind and tried hard but first up, condition just gave out. Fitter, kind map in his corner, he only runs well.
2 True Fiction (Bet Now: $3.00) was game in defeat at Pinjarra last start over this trip, sitting wide throughout without cover and was game in defeat but the early burn just told. If he gets a better run in transit, he’s dangerous here.
4 Lucky I Am (Bet Now: $5.00) steps up to 1200m after resuming over 1000m here when on speed and seemingly had her chance but tired and felt the pinch late. Fitter and up in trip, I think she’s a definite improver at odds.
Race 5. (16:59) Wittens Irrigation & Design Plate 1300m
3 Godspeed (Bet Now: $3.90) was the eye catcher on debut two weeks ago over 1200m here, getting a fair way out of his ground but really liked the way he finished his race off in defeat. If he can overcome the draw, he’ll take holding out.
9 God’s Hammer (Bet Now: $2.90) is a Dan Morton trained three year old that resumes. He debuted at Ascot back on April 1 when raw, new to the caper, and had excuses. Given a good break, trialled well and good lead that Pike is booked.
2 Countersunk (Bet Now: $13.00) is one of the leading contenders after a last start win over this trip at Pinjarra, giving his rivals a start and a beating. Think he may want further but off last start, I say he commands respect.
Race 6. (17:35) MC Polytrack Handicap (1MW) 1200m
7 God’s Gate (Bet Now: $12.00) was a tough winner at Pinjarra last start, finding plenty under pressure to fend them off and get the job done in good fashion. Proven track/distance performer and off a win, he’ll do me in an open contest.
10 Rock The Market (Bet Now: $5.50) comes back to 1200m after racing over 1400m here last Saturday. She got into a lovely position and was there to win but whacked late and was never a factor. Back to 1200m I like and she must have pleased the stable to back up.
6 Catch The Red Eye (Bet Now: $35.00) is three weeks between runs since being second up over 1000m here. He got into a good spot in transit just off speed and was there to win but just whacked late. Second up syndrome maybe? If so, a third up bounce back is on the cards.
Race 7. (18:15) Jockey Celebration Day Stakes (84+) 1400m
4 Angel Undercover (Bet Now: $3.80) should appreciate the rise to 1400m after resuming over 1200m here two weeks ago, working home strongly from off speed when second. Good upside to come and rising to 1400m, she’ll take holding out.
2 Sensessional (Bet Now: $5.00) is a Team Pearce trained gelding that resumes, having not raced since April 3 at Ascot when placing in the Old Comrade. He tried hard but just lacked the killer blow to win. Looks to have trialled well and can sprint nicely on the fresh side.
5 Rokanori (Bet Now: $35.00) is several weeks between runs since racing over 1200m here on very testing ground where he got back in the run and tried hard but felt the pinch and couldn’t quite finish his race off. Firmer deck, 1400m, he’s dangerous at odds.
Race 8. (18:55) Happy Horses Birthday Handicap (1MW) 1600m
5 Berry Blast (Bet Now: $2.80) looks the one to beat. Impressive win last start at Pinjarra over 1400m, giving her rivals a start and a beating in a sharp display. The rise to the mile should be fine and confident she can measure up at this level.
8 Vexatious Rose (Bet Now: $3.80) has found a purple patch and commands respect. She took forever to win her maiden but she has won her past two, the latest being last Wednesday in an impressive display. She is a leading contender.
7 Showlas (Bet Now: $6.50) was met with good market support last start over the mile at Pinjarra but she didn’t fire a shot and was very plain. Prior efforts suggested a win was near, so I wouldn’t be dismissing her against these.
