3/8/2026 Horse Racing Tips and Best Bets – Darwin, Darwin Cup day

A bumper ten race card has been set down for Darwin on Monday, for Darwin Cup Day. The weather is fine and the rail is in the true position for the entire circuit.

2 Bon’s Your Back (Bet Now: $3.10) comes back to 1200m after racing over 1300m here on Wednesday, getting the suck run in transit before angling clear and looked the winner but couldn’t quite get there. He’ll be strong late. Just depends what start he concedes.

1 Convincebility (Bet Now: $6.50) ran just over two weeks ago over this track/distance where he ran in the feature sprint and was just run off his legs, as well as being outclassed, behind Balastier. Much better suited here, he appeals.

3 Rivkin (Bet Now: $9.50) was a forgive from two weeks back here when wide no cover on speed and felt the pinch late. That was his first run in 10 weeks so he has good upside/improvement, I am not dismissing.

1 Southampton Flare (Bet Now: $19.00)…if you haven’t seen his first up win, get a replay of it. Outstanding, unbelievable performance, being tailed off last but picked up and savaged the line to score a remarkable win. If he can settle closer, gee I think he’ll take holding out.

6 Pafitis (Bet Now: $18.00) was an impressive winner over 1100m here, making a sustained run from off speed and finished best to get the job done. 1200m should be fine and off last run, he does command respect.

9 Yaki Ishi (Bet Now: $8.50) was an eye catcher over 1300m here last time out. He was beaten for early speed and while he was never a winning threat, he was pretty good late in the piece. If he can be within range, he’s a threat.

1 Jumping Power Two (Bet Now: $7.50) produced sustained speed to win over 1000m here last time, leading throughout and was just far too good in an impressive performance. If he can stretch the brilliance to 1100m, he’ll take running down.

4 Cavern (Bet Now: $4.40) is an interesting runner. Formerly with Team Hayes, he’s now with Dion Leech. His form tapered off towards the end of his career with the Hayes camp but he comes here fresh and his best is clearly enough.

7 Juice Box (Bet Now: $17.00) ran fourth at this track/distance on Wednesday. She landed on speed and chased the leader throughout, trying hard but felt the pinch late. Not sure she can win but ist a must for exotics.

3 Zourata (Bet Now: $3.60) is a speedy customer for Peter Robl that was an all the way winner over 1100m, having enough in hand to scrape in and get the job done. This race has thinned out after scratchings so I say he appeals.

9 Shirshov (Bet Now: $2.90) ran fourth to Zourata in the race mentioned above. He tried hard but just felt the pinch late. He has been close up in both NT runs and has a good racing style, so he commands respect.

10 Zing To Win (Bet Now: $46.00) is first up for Chris Pollard. He is a former WA galloper who had reasonable form behind him and did produce some tidy efforts on occasion in town. He’ll spot them a start but be strong late.

6 Aggressive (Bet Now: $8.00) comes back to the mile after racing in the NT Derby where he got back in the run and while he was never a winning threat, I liked the way he kept chasing and finding the line. He’ll be strong at the end of the mile. Just depends what sort of start he concedes.

1 Biden Time (Bet Now: $2.00) was an impressive track/distance winner last start, leading throughout via front end control and was dominant in getting the victory. Good test here but hard to knock the way he’s going.

3 Rampazetto (Bet Now: $21.00) steps up to the mile after racing over 1300m here, getting off speed and held up at times but was good late when eventually clear. Tricky draw but his best is certainly good enough.

4 Stormfront (Bet Now: $5.00) is third up from a spell and should be at peak fitness. He ran in the Metric Mile where he was just off speed and presented to threaten but just whacked late. Hard fit now, Todd steers, he commands respect.

12 Rossanado (Bet Now: $4.00) steps up to the mile after racing over 1300m here on Wednesday, getting off speed and kept chasing in a good effort behind Anson Boy. The rise in trip suits. Just needs luck from the gate.

5 The Girl’s Boy (Bet Now: $18.00) is capable. He ran in the Metric Mile and while outclassed on paper, I thought he was far from disgraced in defeat behind Venting. Back to this level, he’s dangerous if he can overcome the draw.

8 Itwasonlyakiss (Bet Now: $5.50) looks the one to beat here. He ran over this track/distance just over two weeks ago where he was off speed and chasing but tracked through with purpose, only to get badly held up. He eventually got clear anc charged late. With room to move, he’ll take holding out.

4 Throw At Da Stumps (Bet Now: $35.00) steps up to 1300m after resuming over 1000m here in a field of four. The other three cut at each other in front, with this guy sitting off and was good late when second. Fitter, up in trip, good upside, he commands respect.

6 Matron Samsing (Bet Now: $71.00) was unwanted in betting when resuming at this track/distance, getting off speed and failed to come on, never really being a factor. Like her with the run under the belt, can settle closer, one for exotics.

8 Hammurabi (Bet Now: $7.00) looks a good each way gamble. He ran over this track/distance last start, getting into a decent spot off speed and tracked into the race nicely. He loomed but condition just gave way late. Fitter, he’ll do me each way.

2 Stomp’em (Bet Now: $4.60) comes back to 1300m after a win over the mile on Wednesday, leading throughout here. He copped heat in front but he found and was strong to the line. Back in trip is a query but has a good racing style.

5 Kessler (Bet Now: $26.00) is a Philip Cole trained gelding that resumes. This guy is first up, having not raced since May 16 at Tenant Creek when placing over 1450m. Great record at Darwin, can sprint well fresh, watch betting.

4 Bollon (Bet Now: $3.20) steps up to 2050m after racing over the mile here, leading throughout, had front end control and was dominant in the run to the line. Has run well at the track/distance previously but looks a better, stronger horse this time around.

11 Garrix (Bet Now: $7.00) was game in defeat two back in the NT Derby before going to the mile on Wednesday and tried hard after getting the suck run but had no answers to reel in Biden Time. Hard fit, racing well, he should be around the mark.

10 Unquestionably (Bet Now: $5.00) ran second over this track/distance just over two weeks back, getting a fair way out of his ground but liked the way he finished his race off in defeat. He has that 2050m run under the belt now, which should hold him in good stead.

2 Stormageddon (Bet Now: $4.60) is top seed for me. He was a real eye catcher last time out over the mile Chief Minister’s, closing with real purpose from near last when fourth. He’ll love getting to 2000m, can settle closer, will be strong late…like him.

1 Casino Seventeen (Bet Now: $11.00) is the class horse, by some distance. He resumed in the Chief Minister’s and worked home strongly when third. Good upside to come, will love getting the rise in trip…just a matter of whether he can handle the weight.

5 Venting (Bet Now: $27.00) was an enormous winner of the Metric Mile. He was near last and looked to be going nowhere but surged and savaged the line to win. 2000m should be fine, he can win for sure and is worthy of an each way ticket.

BEST BET: Race Nine Number 4 Bollon

NEXT BEST: Race Two Number 1 Southampton Flare

LONG SHOT: Race Seven Number 8 Itwasonlyakiss
