The tremendous career of star galloper KINGS WILL DREAM (Casamento – Road Harbour) will come to a close after the running of the Gr 1 Stradbroke Handicap in a few weeks.
Before all that however, he races in this weekend’s Gr 1 Doomben 10,000 worth a million dollars and could sneak a place.
That million dollar figure is no stranger to his connections either, having banked for them $1,360,418 from a career of 29 starts with 7 wins and 10 minor placings.
On his website, trainer Chris Waller wrote of 7-y-o stable favourite that, “Kings Will Dream has arrived in the sunshine state ahead of the Doomben 10,000 on Saturday. “
The horse travelled up in outstanding order and will race fresh this Saturday.
Waller added: “The Stradbroke Handicap will most likely be his grand finale where the curtain will come down on a wonderful and special racing career.”
Kings Will Dream has won at 1200m, the trip he contests this Saturday, and he has won first-up too.
A recent placing with his head on his chest in a trial gives cause for a forward showing in the 10,000.
As for the Gr 1 Stradbroke, over 1400m, he looks better suited as he boasts two Gr 1 placings at the trip during his career.
And the highlights of that career for the gelding, was undoubtedly his Gr 1 win in the Turnbull Stakes over 2000m in 2019 when he flashed late to knock off Finche and Hartnell.
Unfortunately for him and connections, he raced in the era of Winx and was Gr 1 placed behind her in the Turnbull a year earlier.
We wish him well in his retirement after the Stradbroke.
