Top jockey James McDonald is confirmed to ride across the first three days of the prestigious Royal Ascot meeting and will partner a recent addition to Ciaron Maher’s stable.
McDonald will be aboard Carl Spackler, a triple Grade 1 winner from the United States who was recently purchased by Yulong Investments. The talented galloper is set to contest the Group 1 Queen Anne Stakes (1600m) on the opening day before making the move to race in Australia.
A familiar face at Royal Ascot, McDonald has already enjoyed notable success at the meeting, including his standout win in the 2022 King’s Stand Stakes on Australian sprinter Nature Strip.
His manager Mark Guest has confirmed McDonald will return to Australia following his UK commitments, where heβll resume riding mid-week in Sydney before heading to Eagle Farm for the Tattersall’s Tiara meeting on June 28.
