Chris Waller has confirmed Autumn Boy will travel to Melbourne next week for the Cox Plate following a luckless Epsom Handicap run.
The three-year-old was held up on the inside on Saturday, but Waller told Giddy Up with Gareth Hall the spring target remained unchanged.
“He’s pulled up well, and he’ll come down next week at some stage.”
Aeliana is also on a Cox Plate path after the Turnbull Stakes, with the feature to be staged at Flemington this year.
Waller’s Lady Shenandoah arrived in Melbourne on Wednesday ahead of the Toorak Handicap after connections considered keeping her in Sydney.
Waller said James McDonald’s availability helped settle the decision, despite the mare drawing better in Sydney.
“But we’ve got James in Melbourne and we didn’t have a rider in Sydney.”
McDonald was comfortable with the Toorak assignment and felt she would be fine from the draw.
