Lindsay Park has high hopes for Rackemann after his maiden win at Sandown.

Slow developing Rackemann may be seen in a minor Stakes race during the upcoming Melbourne Spring Carnival if Lindsay Park has their way.

Having just his third start at Sandown on Wednesday, the now four-year-old Rackemann took out the Remembering Mikaela Claridge (1300m).

Ridden by Craig Williams, the Ben, Will and J d Hayes-trained Rackemann ($4.40) registered a 2-½ length win from King Of Fighters ($5) with Nearing Liberty ($15) in third place.

Ben Hayes said Lindsay Park wanted to thank the ownership group for their patience with the galloper.

“He’s a horse than we have always liked, and we’ve had to give him time because he’s been immature, and I think it paid off there.

“That was a very easy win in what was a very competitive maiden.

“Craig rode him beautifully. He was able to get out when he wanted, and he was hands-and-heels to the line which is a really good sign.

“I think he has a bright future.”

Rackemann started his career back in December with placings at Moonee Valley and Sandown before being spelled.

Hayes said even though Wednesday’s race was for maiden gallopers he expects Rackemann to race through his grades.

“We’ve only just won a maiden, but he could end up in a nice Stakes race in the spring,” Hayes said.

“As a young horse he just took so much time, which horses by Impending can do, so we’ve had to bring him up slow to build him up.

“I’m excited by him. We’ll have to have a good think about how we will place him, but I would say we’ll take him through the grades, and he could end up in a nice Stakes race one day.

“I think he’s got that sort of ability and I think he showed a bit of it today.”
