Trainer Tony Sears has confirmed that it is ‘all systems go’ for his boom two-year-old Steady Ready who races in the Listed Dalrello Stakes at Eagle Farm on Saturday.
“He’s all good. He is going well, so very happy going into the race,” said Sears.
Steady Ready first caught the eye when demolishing his rivals to the tune of thirteen lengths in a barrier trial back on March 8 … before coming out and reproducing that sort of effort in race action itself when never letting anybody else into the race when saluting on debut by a solid 5.75 length margin over the 1000m trip at Doomben on March 26.
It will be a month between runs, during which big money offers to purchase Ready Steady were roundly rejected.
Barrier number two will help Steady Ready’s chances on Saturday … but he does come up against several more experienced and well performed runners in the Dalrello, meaning he should face more of a test than he did on debut, but Sears remains bullish about his chances.
“You have got to take good horses on if you want to get anywhere,” said Sears, “and you’ll probably have to take horses like this on all of the time … so, it’s all good. We are confident with him.
“What’s next for him after Saturday? We are really just going to take this race to tell us where we are and then we can decide where we go from there.
“There is even a chance that the horse will possibly spell after tomorrow … possibly.
“It all depends on what he does tomorrow. That will tell us what to do with him.
“We don’t want to get too far ahead of ourselves,” concluded Sears.
