Yulong Stud has made another significant addition to its broodmare roster with the acquisition of South Australian standout, Another Award, for a hefty price of $1.2 million.
The bidding frenzy for the five-year-old daughter of Shamus Award escalated rapidly during the online auction, ultimately won by the Victorian farm.
While Another Award has only achieved Listed victory, her recent performances at the highest level have caught the attention of buyers.
With second-place finishes in both the Group 1 The Goodwood and the Robert Sangster Stakes, her breeder and managing owner, Ralph Satchell, acknowledged the mare’s enhanced value and her potential to contribute to premier broodmare bands across the country.
Satchell expressed confidence in Another Award’s dual-purpose appeal, emphasising her soundness, form, and impeccable physical attributes that make her an attractive addition for both racing and breeding purposes.
Recognising the opportune timing, Satchell decided to offer Another Award for sale, acknowledging her career-best form, the imminent breeding season, and the fact that he and the other owners are not breeders themselves.
Although he would have loved to retain the mare, Satchell acknowledged her increasing value and made the decision to present her for sale on Inglis Digital.
In addition to Another Award, Yulong Stud also secured the purchase of Majestic Shot from Grand Syndicates for $220,000.
The acquisitions further demonstrate Yulong’s commitment to building a strong broodmare band and solidifying its position in the breeding industry.
