The feature race at Rosehill this Saturday is the Golden Rose (1400m), where Guest House stifles betting.
Down below is a speed map, runner preview and $100 betting strategy for 2026 Golden Rose.
2026 Golden Rose Runner Preview:
1. Guest House: I think brilliance wise, Guest House has this field covered. It’s just the set up that is the query but you can’t ignore what he did first up, breaking the track record and did so being held up and in restricted room. Gives every impression of running 1400m, he’s the best horse IMO re ability, and I’ll back him in.
2. Campione D’Italia: Admittedly did take on older horses, but I thought he was awful in the Show County and the subsequent trial was so so. If he wins, too good, but have to be against him.
3. Tron Bolt: He wasn’t there to play in The Run To The Rose but loved the way he closed off. Drawn wide again, has to go back…I think this is another barrier trial and he’ll be cherry ripe for the Caulfield Guineas.
4. Warwoven: I think 1200m is his sweet spot. Yes, does no work from the gate, so maybe 1400m could be fine…but I am happy to watch.
5. St Gotthard: St Gotthard commands respect. He was there to win The Run To The Rose but just couldn’t quite get past Warwoven, who had race fitness on his side and that was the difference. He has that run under the belt now, he’s right in the mix.
6. Cormier: I am not penning Cormier. He was awful first up in The Run To The Rose but the race was dominated on speed and he just found them too sharp. Might want more ground, more racing, but I am convinced he has the talent to measure up.
7. Berzelius: I think he’s right on track for the Caulfield Guineas. Good late in The Run To The Rose, he’s one for exotics.
8. Stormy Marco: Ridden with intent in the Ming Dynasty and just missed. Tricky gate, but maybe goes forward again? He is a first four contender.
9. Under Focus: He was very good in The Run To The Rose and will love 1400m. Just needs to jump clean and settle forward.
10. Central Europe: The love affair with this horse…help me out? I think he’s okay, but nothing special.
11. Plagiarism: Back up to 1400m I like, he leads…but just lacks the class.
12. Castillo King: Tried hard but was flat late behind Warwoven and looks a tired horse.
13. Tennenbaum: Nice horse but just needs it a touch easier.

2026 Golden Rose Speed Map
Doesn’t appear much pace on paper here. Plagiarism leads, and I dare say leads for fun. Warwoven lands box seat from the inside draw, while do they roll the dice and go forward with St Gotthard? Castillo King will come across from a wide gate so maybe slots in?
