Wodonga Cup 2025 – Tips, Field, Odds, Horses and Betting Preview

Country Cup racing in Victoria continues this Friday, with the Wodonga Cup (1590m) attracting a solid field.

Down below is a speed map, runner preview and $100 betting strategy for the 2025 Wodonga Cup.

2025 Wodonga Cup Runner Preview:

1. Rhinoceros: Gradually getting towards peak fitness and was okay from the front in the Donald Cup. Blinkers back on is a big tick and suspect this track will play up/in, so he’s dangerous.

2. Vega Magnifico: I reckon long term, he’ll be heading to Darwin for the Cup there. Handy form, but not going well enough to trouble these.

3. Reset The Jazz: Thought he did a really good job fresh at Flemington over the mile behind Sabaj, sitting wide throughout but he stayed on and was far from disgraced in defeat. If he lands on speed without spending too many petrol tickets, he can win.

4. Bianco Vilano: He’ll welcome the serious drop in grade/depth but I don’t think he’s going well enough regardless.

5. Prince Of Helena: He’s the knockout horse at odds. He ran well in the Snake Gully Cup at Gundagai given he was back near last in a race dominated by the front few. Maps to settle much closer and be effective late.

6. Dark Journey: Luckless at Flemington before going to the Donald Cup where he got the A1 run in transit and once presented clear air, he was just too good for them. Maps ideally again, he’ll be around the mark.

7. Villasaurus: Got a great ride in the Snake Gully Cup and was good late when third to Ticklebelly. He’ll need another good ride again but the talent is there.

8. Flying Basil: 2000m+ horse resuming, I dare say he’ll need the run.

9. Hiyaam Proud: Hiyaam Proud ran down the track behind Skipper’s Canyon two weeks back and was a total forgive I thought after sitting wide no cover on speed throughout. The hard run just told on him late in the piece. Should get a much better run in transit this time around and his best is good enough to be dangerous.

10. Morning Darling: Racing well but needs to find an easier race.

11. Jugiong: Nice horse for the future but this is aiming too high.

Rhinoceros led in the Donald Cup so I suspect he takes it up. Outside him, I can’t see much early pressure, with the likes of Reset The Jazz and maybe Villasaurus pressing forward from tricky gates.
