TAB partners with Singapore Turf Club
In another first from the TAB, all WIN and PLACE bets on Singapore races will now flow directly into Singapore betting pools.
That means bigger, more stable pools on Singapore races, so you can bet with confidence.
For all WIN and PLACE bet types on Singapore races, Singapore betting rules will apply.
For all other bet types including Trifecta, First 4, Quinella, Running Double, Daily Double, Quaddie and BIG6 Victorian Betting Rules will continue to apply. The Victorian TAB will continue to run its own pools for these bet types.
Commission Rates
The Singapore Turf Club’s (STC) maximum commission rate on Win pools is 19.38%. The STC may, from time to time, lower the commission rate on any individual Win pool after the pool has opened for selling. The Singapore Turf Club will make no announcement about the reduced commission rate. The rate of the reduction can vary but you may notice increased approximate dividends and will always be better off in the form of higher dividends. In a way, it’s a lot like the TAB’s own Power Pays and Tubby Trifecta promotions, but it happens even more frequently! The Singapore Turf Club’s takeout rate on Place pools is 19.38% and this will not vary.
Betting Rule Differences
There are several rule differences when having a WIN or PLACE bet on Singapore races. They include:
Dividend rounding:
For STC hosted Win and Place pools, dividends are rounded to the nearest 20c. (Under VICTAB rules, dividends are rounded to the nearest 10c)
Minimum dividends:
For STC hosted pools, the minimum Win dividend is $1.20 and the minimum Place dividend is $1.00. (Under VICTAB rules, the minimum dividend on both Win and Place pools is generally $1.04)
Minimum starters – Win pool:
For STC hosted Win pools, the minimum number of starters is 4. If the number of starters drops below 4, the Win pool is refunded. (Under VICTAB rules, the minimum number of starters for the Win pool is 2)
Minimum starters – Place pool:
For STC hosted Place pools, the minimum number of starters is 4, however VICTAB will not participate in an STC hosted Place pool if there are less than 5 starters. In this scenario, VICTAB will not operate a Place pool on the Singapore meeting at all. (Under VICTAB rules, the minimum number of starters for the Place pool is 5)
Number of Placegetters paid – Place pool:
For STC hosted Place pools, 3 place dividends will be paid when there are 7 or more starters. STC Betting Rules state that 2 place dividends will be paid when there are 4, 5 or 6 starters. However VICTAB will not operate a Place pool on Singapore meetings when there are less than 5 starters. STC Betting Rules state that the Place pool is refunded when there are less than 4 starters.
