Jockey Danny Nikolic has been banned from riding following a verbal clash with Victoria’s chief steward Terry Bailey at the Seymour race meeting.
A trainer with a runner at Seymour said an incident occurred between the two before the running of race seven.
The trainer, who did not want to be named, said a “vigorous” exchange of words occurred and Nikolic was called to the stewards’ room.
After several minutes stewards announced race seven would be delayed and Nikolic would be replaced on his mount Bringenbrong.
Nikolic has been named in connection with a race run in April last year at Cranbourne that is now under investigation by police and stewards.
