Race 1. (12:25) Darley Maribyrnong Trial Stakes (L) 1000m
4 Silent Intent (Bet Now: $4.80) is a son of Hellbent that debuts for Team McEvoy. He won here last Thursday in a jumpout and was impressive in the sense that when McNeil asked for an effort, away he went to win and win very well. He’s hard to beat.
1 Ankaa (Bet Now: $5.50) is an Anamoe colt for Team McEvoy that debuts. He won his respective jumpout here, sitting near the speed before being clicked up by Coffey and got better as the jumpout went on. Keen to see how he goes.
7 Musandam (Bet Now: $3.80) is a Snitzel filly for John McArdle that debuts off the back of impressive jumpout work, sitting on speed and despite doing a bit wrong, she moved nicely. Stable can find an early 2YO, so watch betting.
Race 2. (12:55) Tab One Pool Hcp (Bm78) 1200m
I am very keen to see 20 Hankee Alpha (Bet Now: $4.40). Former Kiwi that makes her Australian debut for Cindy Alderson and while her form is better over slightly further, her jumpout work at Cranbourne has been elite to my eye and if she brings that here, gee I think she’ll run a big race.
13 Esmahli (Bet Now: $5.50) commands respect for Team Freedman. He ran second over 1000m at Caulfield Heath last time, closing strongly from off speed when second to stablemate Cabriole. The rise to 1200m looks fine and loves getting his toe in.
12 Charming Nic (Bet Now: $15.00) is several weeks between runs since a dominant win over 1200m at Ballarat Synthetic, landing in a plum spot before being clicked up and away he went. He’s a nice horse on the up and strikes a winnable race.
Race 3. (13:30) Howden Super Impose Stakes (L) 1800m
6 Icy You (Bet Now: $15.00) was game in defeat in the Preview two weeks ago. He was held up at times and took a little while to wind up but was strong to the line when second to Quick Finish. He has that 1800m run under the belt, which holds him in good stead.
3 Cignetti (Bet Now: $7.50) comes through the 1500m race won by Lepolo three weeks ago at Sandown. He wasn’t suited by the race shape and was held up times so I want to be forgiving behind the McEvoy galloper. If he gets room to move, 1800m should be fine and is hard to beat.
1 Ko Phangan (Bet Now: $23.00) ran down the track behind Lepolo a few weeks back at Sandown but he was first up and coming back from 1800m. He just lacked any real change up speed so be forgiving. Better for the run, he’s an improver at odds.
Race 4. (14:05) Tab One Pool Edward Manifold Stakes (G2) 1600m
Keen to see how 11 Stipulation (Bet Now: $4.40) goes. Not sure she beat a great deal at Geelong last time but the way she went about it was impressive and she was strong to the line over 1400m. 1600m should be fine, has the Maher polish and is bred to eat up the mile.
3 Profligate (Bet Now: $SP.00) looks on track for Beggy. Both runs this time in, she has got off speed and while she’s never a winning threat, she has worked to the line with purpose. Getting towards peak fitness and rising to the mile, she rates highly.
4 Salann (Bet Now: $10.00) steps up to the mile after resuming over 1300m at Bendigo in a maiden where she was a pass mark given she was nearer the inside and it wasn’t the spot to be. Showed good promise as a juvenile, good upside, she’s a contender.
Race 5. (14:40) Cirka Rose Of Kingston Stakes (G2) 1400m
Gee I think 17 Grand Omaha (Bet Now: $31.00) is in for a good prep. Quality mare for Matt Laurie that resumes, her last run seeing her finish down the track in the QLD Oaks. She will spot them a start but off jumpout work, I think she’s humming. Keen to see how she goes.
7 Gold Coast Belle (Bet Now: $2.60) is the swimmer in the field and commands respect. She was plain in the Let’s Elope but I think the track may have been too firm for her. Loves to get her toe in, which she gets here, and this race has thinned right out after scratchings.
6 Wrote To Arataki (Bet Now: $23.00) comes through the Courtza from several weeks back. They rode her far too warm I thought and was left a sitting shot late for Custom. Fitter, more patient steer, she can run a much improved race.
Race 6. (15:15) Asahi Super Dry Danehill Stakes (G2) 1100m
3 The Next Episode (Bet Now: $3.20) is here to make a statement I think. The Sydney trials…very so so. He was sent to Cranbourne, jumped out there behind Jimmysstar and went like a rocket I thought. If he wins this, he’ll start favourite for the Coolmore I suspect. Keen on his prospects.
10 Natural Fling (Bet Now: $2.70) looks a clear threat. Freshened up since the Moir where she was thrown in the deep end and didn’t disgrace herself in defeat behind My Gladiola. Back to her own age and with a class edge, I think she’s very dangerous.
11 Over Excited (Bet Now: $4.60) is dangerous here. She was slightly back in trip in the Cap D’Antibes but loved the way she kept chasing and finding the line in defeat when second to Satono Glow. Hard fit, has the run down the straight under the belt, not dismissing.
Race 7. (15:50) The Lexus Bart Cummings (G3) 2520m
14 Jennivamoose (Bet Now: $6.50) commands respect. She ran third in the Archer, trying hard from off speed but just couldn’t quite get there behind Shockletz. She has that hard 2500m run under the belt, which holds her in good stead.
11 Litzdeel (Bet Now: $4.80) did too much work in the Archer, chasing Chief Little Rock from a long way out and with 58.5kg, she was left a tired horse late. Gets right down in the weights this time around, handles wet ground and stable is flying.
12 Mr Monaco (Bet Now: $8.50) was down the track behind The Euprahtes at Randwick in the Kingston Town. He got back to near last in the run and in a race dominated on speed, he was never a factor. Looks well suited up to 2500m and is one for exotics.
Race 8. (16:25) Tab Turnbull Stakes (G1) 2000m
5 Aeliana (Bet Now: $3.90) looks back on track. Jury was out after the Winx but she ran a beauty in the 7 Stakes, closing with real purpose behind Autumn Glow. She’s back on track, she gets to 2000m, hard fit…she’ll run an absolute beauty.
2 Sir Delius (Bet Now: $2.90) is clearly hard to beat. I didn’t think it was a great steer by Williams in the Makybe Diva but I loved the way he stuck on in defeat. Like him up to 2000m, more positive ride, he’s a leading contender.
8 Ohope Wins (Bet Now: $46.00) is sneaky flying for Chris Waller. On paper, just a run in the Makybe Diva, but the sectionals suggest her run was sneaky good. I think she’s right on track for the Caulfield Cup and I am expecting her to run a bold race here.
Race 9. (17:05) Gilgai Stakes (G2) 1200m
Really like 15 Skybird (Bet Now: $3.00) here. She is just so well weighted, being a Group l winner, a Group l performer, and is 2kg below WFA, she’s on the minimum with 55kg, plus she handles wet ground, she likes the straight track…I think the market will charge towards her
5 Losesomewinmore (Bet Now: $10.00) is a straight track specialist that was too good for them in the Bobbie Lewis, finishing best from off speed to get the job done. He doesn’t want the rain to arrive but regardless, he’s genuine and commands respect.
11 King Zephyr (Bet Now: $18.00) is a Grahame Begg trained gelding that resumes. He didn’t fire when last in work, hoping he’d get to a Stradbroke but nothing really went to plan. Spelled, given a good break, watch betting.
Race 10. (17:40) Hkjc World Pool Paris Lane Stakes (L) 1400m
2 Cafe Millennium (Bet Now: $15.00) is a track/distance specialist and is hard to beat here I say. He third three weeks ago in the Tontonan, sitting off speed and worked home strongly when third to Welcometotheshow. He’s found positive form and can go on with it.
1 Just Folk (Bet Now: $9.00) swims and despite carrying topweight, he commands respect. He comes back to 1400m after a game effort in the Heatherlie over 1700m, landing on speed and tried hard but was nabbed late by Kingswood. Good racing style, he takes beating.
14 Aztec Ruler (Bet Now: $51.00) was too bad to be true in the Tontonan at Flemington. He seemingly got into a decent spot in transit but when asked for the effort, gee he didn’t fire and went backwards when last. His best is good enough so I am not dismissing.
