Gerald Ryan appears to have the $1M Group 1 Sires Produce Stakes in his keeping with his three runners entered for the race this Saturday, occupying three of the top four spots in early betting. Peggy Jean and Believe Yourself are joint favourites early at $4.00 whilst Ryan’s third runner, Time For War, who is coming off a good win in the G2 Pago Pago Stakes where he defeated Kumaon, is on the third line of betting at $8.00 with Lucky Raquie Only Kumaon at $6.00, prevents Ryan runners from dominating the market.

Sires Produce Stakes Form Guide

Special Offer: $650 FREE BET – Sportsbet

Special Offer 2: $250 FREE BET – Ladbrokes

Special Offer 3: $300 FREE BET – Luxbet

1. UNENCUMBERED – C Williams (2)

Finished well but wasn’t able to match Ghibellines, who got a lovely run through the field, in the G2 Todman Stakes before from a wide gate, settling at the tail of the field in last week’s Golden Slipper and failing to make an impression in the run home, finishing tenth (7 ¼ lengths). This will be the tenth start for the Testa Rossa colt who; admittedly on wet tracks, hasn’t been in the same kind of form recently as he was leading into his Magic Millions win back in January.

Odds: $13.00

2. CORNROW – J Cassidy (1)

Still searching for his maiden win is this son of Duporth but in his six starts, he has placed four times including a third to Earthquake in the G1 Blue Diamond Stakes. Mick Price’s galloper had his first Sydney start in the Todman Stakes two starts back, finding some trouble in the straight before finishing well to run third behind Ghibellines and Unencumbered. Didn’t handle the heavy track at all in last week’s Golden Slipper and finished second to last. A better horse than that who, on a dry track, might offer some cheek from the inside gate with Cassidy aboard.

Odds: $15.00

3. TIME FOR WAR – D Thornton (7)

Immediately spelled after winning a Rosehill Open 2yo race on debut back in November and returned with a strong all-the-way win in the G2 Pago Pago Stakes (1200m) last fortnight. The son of Snitzel jumped well to lead from the wide gate and despite being a little wayward over the final stages, had a head to spare over Kumaon. Will do the same again here but faces a tougher field and will needs to have improved again.

Odds: $8.00

4. ZULULAND – S Baster (10)

Cracked his maiden in one of the best possible ways by winning the G2 Sire’s Produce Stakes, producing a big finish to win the 1400m Flemington race by 1 ½ lengths over Awesome Rock. He hasn’t raced since that victory which was over a month ago now but has been kept up to the mark by his Trainer David Hayes with a solid trial win last week at Randwick. Will get back from ten and would’ve have liked to see a touch more pace in the race than there appears to be for him to be rated on top.

Odds: $13.00

5. KUMAON – K McEvoy (11)

He wasn’t well away in the Pago Pago Stakes a fortnight ago, his first run in twelve weeks, but was able to sneak home along the fence and get within a head of Time For War, who had led throughout, in finishing second. His two previous runs have been very good and despite the widest draw here, which will see him get back, he cannot be dismissed lightly.

Odds: $6.00

6. SCATCH ME LUCKY – B Shinn (3)

He has contested some smart races since winning a Restricted Canterbury race three starts back. The Paul Perry trained runner ran sixth in the Todman Stakes before at his most recent start, finding Bachmann much too strong in the G3 The Schweppes Stakes, finishing second by 2 ¼ lengths. This race no easier than the last two.

Odds: $34.00

7. BELIEVE YOURSELF – B Avdulla (8)

Sebring filly who won a Kembla Grange Maiden on debut back in December before being tipped out and retuning with a tenacious victory in the G2 Sweet Embrace Stakes in March of this year. That victory saw her sneak into last week’s Golden Slipper where from last on the turn, she followed the winner Mossfun home to run fourth (2.1 lengths). At each of her starts she’s showed significant improvement and only has to replicate her Slipper effort to be right in the mix here.

Odds: $4.00

8. PEGGY JEAN – N Rawiller (4)

Won the lucrative Inglis Classic at her second start earlier this year before finishing third to Unequivocal at her next outing after which, she was given a let-up. She returned as the 9/4 favourite in the G2 Magic Night Stakes (1200m) where she settled near the tail of the field. She saved good ground by sticking close to the fence and finished well but was just shaded by equally strong effort form the well-performed Bring Me The Maid. She can only be better for that run and the 1400m, which she attempts for the first time, looks ideal – rates a big chance.

Odds: $4.00

9. LUCKY RAQUIE – G Schofield (5)

Finished too well for Mr Cha Cha and claimed the Listed Black Opal Stakes at Canberra two starts ago before running better than her quote of 50/1 would suggest in the G2 Reisling Slipper Stakes, finishing fifth (2.2 lengths) behind Earthquake and Mossfun. That’s obviously the leading 2yo form and producing a similar effort, which she should be able to drawing well in five, could see her fill a place.

Odds: $8.00

10. UNKNOWN DESTINY –       (9)

Won a few on the country tracks but when the filly by Zizou was brought to town by Scone Trainer John Ramsey, she found the step up in grade far too strong and finished tenth (6.6 lengths) in the Magic Night Stakes behind Bring Me The Maid. As then, will start a big price here.

Odds: $201.00

11. MISS INTERIORS – J McDonald (6)

A Flying Spur filly who, despite showing very little in her two starts to date – the G2 Sweet Embrace (5th) and G2 Magic Night Stakes (eleventh), lines up here in a Group 1 for trainer Anthony Cummings. Can’t see her winning on her what we’ve seen of her so far.

Odds: $101.00

RACE OVERVIEW

Time For War will shoot across and should be able to set thing to his own liking according to the Speed Map. From gate four, Rawiller should have Peggy Jean perfectly placed whatever the tempo of the race be. She’s always given the impression that seven furlongs would be to her liking and her first up run was a beauty. Love the way Believe Yourself has tackled the step in each of her three starts and with only three starts under her belt, the best is still yet surely to come.

  1. PEGGY JEAN
  2. BELIEVE YOURSELF
  3. TIME FOR WAR
  4. KUMAON
