Race 1. (13:24) Tabtouch - Westspeed (Rs0ly) 1000m
Back to 1000m I find interesting with 4 No Dice (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) but she is a mare who has change up speed and can be quite explosive when right. Her last run came on May 20 over 1400m here when back in the run and did make up headway but was never a threat behind Honey Dew. Back to 1000m, Pike on a good lead and the depth is on the thin side.
5 Vogue’s Choice (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is one I can entertain for wider multiples. Hayden Ballantyne trains this mare, who is third up from a spell and should just about be at peak fitness. She ran a fortnight back over 1200m here where she was just off the speed for the trip and kept finding the line but just couldn’t quite finish it off, beaten two lengths by Honey Dew. Hard fit, can settle closer, dangerous.
1 Ginger Jones (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) looks suited back to this level for Team Gangemi. Both runs this time in have come at this track/distance, the latest being two weeks back in a solid 66+ when leading and giving a decent sight but just couldn’t see it through, tiring late behind Colossal. Back to this level, lands near the front, firmer footing, he’ll take running down.
Race 2. (13:59) Wa Spirit Of Racing (Bm66+) 1000m
Straight bat option is 4 First Law (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) for Team Gangemi. He ran over this track/distance two weeks ago where he found a near bottomless deck and tried his guts out but just couldn’t quite finish it off when third to Colossal. He loves the Belmont 1000m and back on top of the ground, maps ideally, he’s going to take beating I’d suggest.
1 Famous Jurney (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is another that is a key chance. He ran a fortnight back in the Colossal race mentioned above. He was on speed throughout and was as brave as ever when doing work to get near the front. The hard run just told late in the piece, finishing fourth, beaten a length. He gets firmer footing this time around and with a more economical run, he’ll look the winner at some stage.
6 Imprudent (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is a very interesting runner. He was $71 when resuming two weeks back in the Colossal race mentioned above. He got back in the run and looked no chance but he rocketed to the line late when a narrow second, clocking some of the better late splits of the meeting. Pike takes over, which is a good lead for fans of this horse, and if he runs up to the return, he has to be rated as one of the leading chances.
Race 3. (14:39) Durkin - Privilege B'day Plate 1200m
1 A Lot Of Good Men (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) should take beating here for Trevor Andrews. This juvenile resumed over 1000m here two weeks ago, a trip clearly short of his best, but I loved the way he found the line late in the piece when second to a sharp looking juvenile, Hanchi. Fitter and up to 1200m, can settle closer in the run, he’ll take holding out with good improvement to come.
4 Red Square… (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) beware the unbeaten horse. 2/2 to start his career for Paul Jordan. Both starts/wins have come here, winning on debut over 1000m before a dominant win at this trip last Wednesday, leading throughout and was very strong to the line in winning. Clearly a harder test here, but how good is he? You don’t know til he’s beaten and has a good racing style.
3 Odinaka (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) can run an improved race here. This guy was kept very safe in betting when resuming a fortnight back over 1000m here. He got off the speed and was somewhat run off his legs early but picked up and found the line well enough behind Hanchi. He is still a maiden but has good talent and the depth here, as a whole, isn’t overly deep.
Race 4. (15:19) Book Xmas In July Celeb.-Bm62+ 1200m
5 Too Dardy (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) looks to have returned enormous for Justine Erkelens and is incredibly hard to beat against these. Three weeks between runs since a sharp win over 1000m here, giving them a start and a beating in an impressive display, winding up and launched over the top for a dominant win. Yet to tick the 1200m box but off the two runs this prep, the six furlongs is fine. Hard to beat.
2 Saloon Bar (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is a quality three year old for Dan Morton that resumes. This guy is first up, having not raced since Jan 29 when an alarming market drifter, potentially saying it’s a prep run, and he ran accordingly when down the track behind All The King’s Men. Given a good break and with a strong win under the belt, Chris Parnham booked fresh, there looks to be a bit of intent.
9 Givemeonereason (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is knocking on the door to win. Simon Miller trains this three year old, who was good in defeat behind Too Dardy two back before backing up a week later and stepping up to 1200m against the older horses where he was just off the speed but kept finding the line in a good effort when a close up third to Honey Dew. Back to his own age, he appeals against these.
Race 5. (15:59) Perth Racing Club M'ship-Rs1mw 1200m
8 Comic Hero (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) should prove to be one of the leading chances. He has been strong in two career outings, debuting with a third to Berbere, a promising animal, before going to the Belmont 1000m again at the midweeks last time where he got a beaut sit behind the speed before angling towards clear air and in a driving finish, he drew clear late. Confident he measures up.
9 Duchess Of Gossip (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is a leading contender. Dion Luciani trained filly that comes back to 1200m after racing over 1300m here last time out. She was wide with cover and looked to be going quite comfortably before angling wider into clear air and finished her race off hard, but just couldn’t quite get the job done when a narrow second to War Gem. Pike on, should get good cover and be strong late.
6 Miss Drakova (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is on the seven day back up for Neville Parnham after racing last Saturday over 1000m here where she was wide no cover for the trip, chasing a genuine speed, but she trucked and looked the winner when presented, but had no answers late for the finale produced by Songaa. 1200m sees her right out IMO, but she must have pleased the stable to back up after that run.
Race 6. (16:46) Free Entry To B'park (Bm66+) 2100m
Good luck beating 6 Queen Alina (Bet Now:Β $SP.00). Best bet across Australia for Saturday. She was enormous first up over 1400m here behind Catalpa before jumping sharply in trip her past two, placing over 2000m two back before a gutsy effort over 2200m two weeks ago behind the very much in form Fear The Wind. She drops in grade/depth, firmer footing, hard fit…she just wins.
15 Flower In The Wind (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) has been up a little while but is holding her form pretty well. She was kept safe in betting a fortnight back at this track/distance and she was there to win in the straight under Parnham but she just didn’t have the killer blow to finish it off and had to settle for a fourth to Candlelight Supper. Back on top of the ground, she’s going well enough to take this out.
3 Baramagic (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) will jump on the bunny and give cheek. Three weeks between runs since an all the way win over 2200m here, where Brad Parnham got complete control in front, walked them and was able to fend them off for a gutsy win. He won’t get it as easy this time around but with his racing style, he’ll give himself every chance.
Race 7. (17:22) Amelia Park (Rs1mw) 1600m
2 Vitalize (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is dangerous with her best. Neville Parnham trained mare that ran in the Rare Encounter race from last Saturday mentioned above. She wasn’t going to threaten but I think she was going to be right in the finish, just getting badly held up at the wrong stage when building the revs. If the breaks go her way, I think she is certainly good enough to win.
4 Rare Encounter (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is on the seven day back up for Donna Riordan after racing here last Saturday. The ride from Pike won the race. She is a mare who can get a fair way out of her ground but Pike sent her on speed, got a great run in transit and no doubt in my mind the ride won the race. Loses Pike, but gets in well after the claim and has to be rated as one of the hardest to beat.
13 Paigey’s Turn (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is a mare who can be hit and miss at times but her best is clearly good enough to give this a shake. She ran last week at Northam over the mile where she got a mile out of her ground but I really liked the way she finished her race off when a close up fourth to Midnight Mystery. Will need luck, but if the breaks go her way, a win wouldn’t shock.
Race 8. (18:00) Beaufine Stakes 1000m
9 Real Danger (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is flying for Dan Morton and has to be respected here as a leading chance. 2/2 since joining the stable, both wins coming over 1000m here, with the latest being several weeks ago where she was there to be run down but found under pressure to fend them off and win. Has won up to 1400m so a fast run 1000m is ideal, she’s very genuine and seemingly a straight forward ride.
7 Ghost Who Walks (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is absolutely flying for Neville Parnham and IMO, he does find a very thin Stakes race. He ran last Saturday at this track/distance and found the line strongly from off the speed, just missing out on the win when a narrow second to Gemma’s Son. Gets good weight relief, hard fit, in form, maps ideally…only runs well.
2 Money Matters (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is a Team Gangemi trained gelding that resumes. This guy is first up, having not raced since November 12 at Ascot when outclassed, finishing down the track in the Colonel Reeves behind a high class mare and flying at the time, This’ll Testya. Midfield in this race last year but off her trial win at Lark Hill last week, I think he’s ready to run a beauty fresh.
Race 9. (18:40) Furphy (Bm78+) 1400m
15 Top Of The Pops (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) has been a frustrating horse to follow but I know he is a horse with good talent and can certainly take out a race like this. He ran over 1300m here two weeks ago where I was quite keen on his chances but as is the norm, he gets a fair way out of his ground and with that, he spotted those in front too much head start and was good to the line behind Vane Tempest. Extra 100m is ideal…just want him to settle closer.
16 Vast Art (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is a quality three year old that comes here several weeks between runs since contesting the Raconteur against his own age. He had a really good battle up the straight with Rusty Dreams and just got the better of her to win narrowly but impressively. That filly went on to win the Belmont Guineas, so the form reads super, and despite taking on older horses, he has to be given serious respect.
8 Bitofmerit (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) steps up to 1400m, which I find interesting, but he has a booming finale on him. That was seen three weeks back over 1200m here, giving them a start and a beating, winding up with absolute purpose for a remarkable win, clocking the best late splits of the meeting. He’ll be spotting them a start but there won’t be a horse finishing better than him.
