Night racing continues at Canterbury on Friday. Weather is fine, track is good (4) and the rail is in the true position for the entire circuit.

Race 1. (18:00) Racing And Sports Plate 1100m
7 Marhoona (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) wouldn’t have looked out of place at Randwick on Saturday so with that in mind, I say she is hard to beat here off the back of two trial wins, the latest over 1050m at Randwick when leading throughout and moved well in winning. Bred to be a good one and think she strikes a very winnable race.
8 Pazyryk (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is a daughter of Lonhro that debuts for James Cummings. She has had just the one trial this time in to get ready for start one, coming over 822m at Warwick Farm when placing and seemingly moved quite well. J Mac booked fresh signals intent so watch the market.
1 Autumn Blonde (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is a John Sargent trained filly that resumes, having not raced since the Gimcrack when raw and new to the caper when down the track. Spelled and looks to have trialled up well for the return so watch the market and see what it does.
Race 2. (18:30) Schweppes Handicap 1250m
6 Yes Yes Boss (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) to make a winning debut here. GaiBott trained filly that debuts off the back of impressive trial, the latest coming over 900m at Rosehill when winning by a space and ran decent time relative to the meeting. Drawn wide but should slide across and take running down.
9 The Stars (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is having start three and should know what the caper is about by now. Debuted here and looked on the plain side before going to Warwick Farm when wide throughout but stayed on and was good in defeat. Maps ideally and J Mac is back on.
1 Miss Judas (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) likely lands on speed and her best is good enough. She ran in the same Warwick Farm maiden that The Stars contested. She seemed to have her chance but was a bit plain late in the piece. Maps to get a sweet run and her best is good enough to be dangerous.
Race 3. (19:00) Classique Legend Celebration Sprint 1250m
Going to take a chance with the Team Hawkes first starter 2 Frontex (Bet Now:Β $SP.00). This gelding has had a couple of trials this time in to get ready for start one where each time he moved well enough with something in the locker. I think he’ll spot them a start but should be strong late and can take this out.
3 Wa Wa Wa (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is a key threat. Chris Waller trained galloper that debuted over 1250m on the Kenso where he was near the speed throughout and thought he was there to win but just couldn’t quite get there when third. Better for the run under the belt, he takes beating here.
5 Flying From Above (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) has talent and is a coming maiden winner. Whether it is here, not sure, but he did enough on debut over 1200m at Newcastle when off speed and worked home with purpose in defeat when third. Likely spots them a start but should be strong late.
Race 4. (19:30) Toyota Forklifts Handicap (64) 1900m
4 Smart Legend (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is a straight bat play for me. He comes through the Midway from two weeks ago at Randwick when off the speed and chased strongly but had no answers late for impressive winner and all the way victor Magnatear. Knocking on the door, perfect map, claim, and strikes a winnable race.
10 Vermillion Dragon (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is an improver for Ciaron Maher. He comes to Sydney off the back of so so runs in Victoria but when you break them down, he’s had merit each time. This is a very thin race, as a whole, and a Maher horse in a staying race…big price I say.
3 Prime Impact (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) should be better for the first up run, which came over 1550m here when attempting to lead throughout and gave a good sight from the front but just felt the pinch late behind Pretty Powerful, finishing third. Fitter and up in trip, he’s dangerous.
Race 5. (20:00) Proven Thoroughbreds Handicap (72) 1100m
1 Balkans (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is a big price and happy to back him in to make it 2/2 for Richard Litt after formerly being with Godolphin. He resumed over this track/distance, giving them a start and a beating in an electric performance. Harder here, but he’ll get back off the speed and launch late, hopefully over the top.
2 Outback Miss (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) looks to have returned with a bang for Price/Kent. She resumed over 1000m at Warwick Farm where she found heavy ground and smashed them, winning impressively and ran time. Harder here, but off the return, she has to be respected.
8 Straand Beauty (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is an Anthony Cummings trained three year old that resumes and returns to racing as a gelding. His last run came over 1000m at Hawkesbury when seemingly had his chance and just battled late in the piece. Given the ultimate operation and his trial work has been solid.
Race 6. (20:30) Kia Evening Star (78) 1550m
6 Silent Impact (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) on top for me. GaiBott trained gelding that gets the Blinkers for the first time. Latest run came on Jan 18 at Rosehill when near the speed and fought on pretty well in defeat behind Zondee. Blinkers on, positive ride, the claim, he takes beating with his best.
2 Sweysive (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) looks the likely leader and will take running down. He has won two on the bounce, the latest over this trip on the Kenso and credit to him, he was there to be beaten but he found under pressure to fend them off and score. Good test here, but think he can measure up.
3 Fortune (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) comes back to 1550m after racing over 1800m on the Kenso last time out where he landed near the speed and tried hard but just couldn’t quite see it through. Back in trip should be fine and with a good racing style, he appeals.
Race 7. (21:00) The Agency Real Estate Handicap (72) 1550m
10 Surprise Valley (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is the each way speck. GaiBott trained mare that resumed over 1400m at Warwick Farm when off speed and kept chasing in a solid enough return behind Tartana. Fitter and up in trip, good racing style, she’ll only run well I say.
2 Bright Red (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is bursting to win. On the seven day back up after racing last Friday night at this track/distance when off the speed and seemingly had her chance but was good in defeat behind stablemate Heed The Omens. Maps perfect and strikes a winnable race.
5 Little Baia (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) has to be given another look for Bjorn Baker after racing last Friday night in the race mentioned above. She reared at the gates and dumped the rider, so forgive and forget. Prior efforts were sound and with a positive ride, she can improve.
