The Eagle Farm track will get another workout on a wet track this Saturday with an eight race card. The weather is fine, the track is soft (5) and the rail is out seven metres for the entire circuit.

Race One (12:32) : Cargo Transport Systems Handicap 1500m:
Back Me: 1 Royal Tithe (Bet Now: $3.00) is one of the better youngsters in Brisbane and she showed that last start with a super win over the mile at Doomben and the important fact is that she was strong through the line. Back to 1500m will only be beneficial and she only rises a kilo. On exposed form, she just wins I think.
Big Danger: 2 Game Of Dreams (Bet Now: $10.00) ran in the feature two year old race during the Grafton Carnival and he fought on strongly when second to Zumikon, beaten a length. Quickly up to 1500m is the query, but he should lead these comfortably and with a cheap sectional, he could run the trip out.
Roughie: 10 Stoke It Up (Bet Now: $11.00) is the one with upside. He ran third to Royal Tithe in that race won by that filly mentioned above and was solid without winning. He does meet the filly 4kg better off here and draws a soft gate. Doubt he can turn the tables, but he does get every chance on paper to run a similar race.

Race Two (13:07) : Wilpak Wholesale Meats Handicap 1800m:
Back Me: 2 Jetset Lad (Bet Now: $3.60) ran third in the Tatts Mile at Doomben behind Akavoroun a fortnight back and I thought his effort was pretty solid given he came from off the speed whereas his normal pattern is to be near the tempo and grinding away. The extra furlong is right up his alley and he can certainly improve enough to get the chocolates here.
Big Danger: 1 Akavoroun (Bet Now: $2.30) had been knocking on the door to win a race and Michael Cahill produced an absolute peach to get the Group l performer home in the Tatts Mile. On that effort, he’d have no trouble with the 1800m, but it has to be a query. On the flip side, he has a bit on these class wise.
Roughie: 4 Teronado (Bet Now: $8.00) drops a fair bit in depth after contesting the Grafton Cup (2350m) last start where there was solid money for him but he failed to beat a runner home. He is a real shadow of his three year old days where I, along with others, thought he’d win a Derby. Hasn’t gone on with it, but in a race like this, gee I think he gets his chance to show something positive.

Race Three (13:42) : Tim Bell Memorial Handicap (85) 1000m:
Back Me: 13 Tuscan Falls (Bet Now: $31.00) is an interesting runner here. Former Gary Portelli runner that has now had a few runs under the care of Liam Birchely. Didn’t do a great deal first up at Ipswich behind Yoho but I thought he was much better over 900m at the Gold Coast when closing off strongly late for third. His record isn’t that convincing, but considering he has form around the likes of Stravigo, Palazzo Publico and Fine Mist, that would be good enough to be very competitive here.
Big Danger: 2 Hidden Pearl (Bet Now: $1.90) is a class mare that is first up here for Barry Lockwood. She had two runs in the Spring, resulting in a dominant win first up at Doomben before going to Flemington for Cup Week where she was crunched in betting and wasn’t beaten far behind Group l performer Pittsburgh Flyer. The bigger track and longer straight are the queries with this speed demon, but if she can reproduce her best form, she just about wins IMO.
Roughie: 8 Treatmelikealady (Bet Now: $13.00) resumed in an open handicap at Doomben a fortnight back but she was on speed, and a hot one at that, and felt the pinch to finish down the track behind Londehero. This is more her level and she can improve sharply.

Race Four (14:22) : QLD Thoroughbred Breeders Handicap (75) 2200m:
Back Me: I think 5 Charcuterie (Bet Now: $5.00) is one of the better bets on the program. He was 1600m up to 2200m last start when sitting just off the speed and fighting on very well to run third to In The Genes. Now that he has that hard 2200m run under the belt, he should be better off here and for mine looks close to a good thing.
Roughie: 3 Morendi (Bet Now: $13.00) ran over 1800m at the Gold Coast a couple of weeks back and was ridden a treat by Luke Rolls to get the job done in impressive fashion. He is a horse who is suspect at 2200m at this level, but he gets weight relief and is a horse who comes from a different form line.
Big Danger: 6 Allzin (Bet Now: $16.00) ran in the stayers event on Ramornie Day during the Grafton Carnival and was far from disgraced I thought when a close up second to proven city performer Dream Folk, who backed up and ran down the track in the Grafton Cup. This horse has a really good record when on the road and one thing we do know about him is that he will stay all day, something some of these won’t do.

Race Five (15:00) : Green Options Racing Plate (Class 3) 1400m:
Back Me: 11 Cruising Speed (Bet Now: $3.00) was specked at odds to win a fortnight back at Doomben and the punters got it spot on with a strong and determined win. Meets a similar field here and has upside. Despite the 2kg weight rise, she looks hard to beat.
Roughie: 16 Western Belle (Bet Now: $8.50) is a stablemate of Raffinato who ran at the Gold Coast on July 20 and worked home strongly late to run a close up second to stablemate Queen Tara. Rises a bit in depth, but she will be strong late and is down in the weights.
Big Danger: 3 Mystical Renegade (Bet Now: $13.00) ran on his home track at the Gold Coast three weeks back and though the win was narrow, it was impressive given he was against the older horses and was carrying a decent weight for a three year old. He has shown promise throughout his career and he gets another crack in town.

Race Six (15:40) : National Jockeys Celebration Day Handicap 1200m:
Back Me: 5 Rock Royalty (Bet Now: $5.50) was looking to defend his Ramornie title last start and I thought his effort in a strong sprint race was full of merit when sixth, beaten just over a length. This looks more his level and I think with the right trip, he can beat this lot.
Big Danger: Gee I thought 2 The Monstar (Bet Now: $6.50) was brave a fortnight back behind Londehero given he was the sole survivor of a brutal tempo (First 510m in sub 29) and was only swamped late by the winner. He’ll get good weight relief here from that outing and if he doesn’t do as much work as he did that afternoon, I think he is a ripping winning chance.
Roughie: 8 Mana Manu (Bet Now: $34.00) is a bit of a tease. He looked as though he was going to really threaten in that Londehero race but once asked for the supreme effort, he sort of just batted away without really threatening. Once again, he’ll get a fast tempo and perhaps a bigger track will help his cause. Hard to trust, but one for sure in terms of exotics.

Race Seven (16:20) : Standon Mienert Chartered Accountants Handicap (75) 1600m:
Back Me: 9 Red Letter Day (Bet Now: $13.00) was just run off his legs I thought last time out at the Sunny Coast and just couldn’t sustain the required long run when fourth to Abu Ben Adam. Draws to sit a touch closer in the run here and the 3kg claim for an in form apprentice, Sarah Eilbeck, is a big tick.
Roughie: 5 Craiglea Deken (Bet Now: $8.00) is an absolute beauty for Krystle Johnson. The four year ran last week in the Townsville Guineas and showed a brilliant turn of foot from off the speed to swallow up his rivals and in the end, he spanked them. He has run well in town before and hasn’t raced better. He finds a winnable race here IMO and is a horse who can’t be ignored.
Big Danger: 16 San Telmo (Bet Now: $10.00) ran third over 1400m here when resuming three weeks ago and was quite solid behind One Inch Punch and Monster Of Energy. That was his first run since late last year when placing behind the well performed Zatopaz. He was with Anthony Cummings and now with Brad Smith and that first up run indicates he is enjoying life in the Sunshine State. Leading chance for sure.

Race Eight (16:57) : Qantac Handicap (0MW) 1200m:
Back Me: 5 Skylimit (Bet Now: $4.60) looked as if he would win by 10 the way he was travelling last start at the Gold Coast and though he did win, the margin was only a half length. I don’t think the lights are all on upstairs, but he has got the win on the board now, and his confidence could have been boosted after that success. In a tough race, I will lean his way.
Roughie: 7 Queen Tara (Bet Now: $4.80) had her first run for Toby Edmonds at the Gold Coast a couple of weeks ago after formerly being with Peter Robl and the mare duly saluted, albeit narrowly against her own sex. Bit more depth here, but she has upside and I think the spacious surroundings of Eagle Farm will really suit her.
Big Danger: 1 Just A Bullet (Bet Now: $9.00) just got the job done first up at Toowoomba before going to Doomben a fortnight back where he did a stack of work on speed and tired late behind surprise winner Catseye Surprise. Go back to the early Autumn and this horse placed in a Group ll Rubiton behind Heatherly. Brings that form here and he’ll spank them.
