The big6 for Victorian punters this Wednesday is on races 3-8 at Betfair Park on the Lakeside circuit with a $25,693 jackpot. Here is my $20 strategy.
Leg 1 – Too tough to start the big6 for me. Put in the field and hope that one of the non-favoured runners salutes. I like Magic Rhythm, but there isn’t a great deal of confidence. Very tricky race.
Leg 2 – Good race for the babies. I’ll put in Aberrant, because his form does look superior and is drawn well, Chateux Margaux, who is beautifully bred but may want further. Very Certain and Mariah’s Pulse round out the winning hopes for me.
Leg 3 – Even though she has to go up 5kg on her last start trouncing of her rivals, I think Gossip Girl is still the one to beat. She led and never ever looked in doubt last start and with the weight rise and wide barrier, she should still be too slick for her rivals. One thing in her favour is that she does drop 100m back in journey.
Leg 4 – Wide race with many chances. For me, I’ll be putting in Population, Testacana, Yokozuna, Kudeta, Cheronbutch, Baron and The Black Oak. Looks on paper to be a nightmare race for punters so I have settled on this bunch to fight it out.
Leg 5 – I can’t see Miss Lily Rose getting beat here. Needed the run first up at Bendigo before running her race in patches last start where she settled midfield, was off the bit a long way out before picking herself up and grinding home for a gallant third. She will love the rise to 2100m and the track won’t be an issue plus Olly rides.
Leg 6 – If ever Fieldmaster was to win a race, it is here. He has the form, he has the class, he has a good trainer, talented rider, good barrier and plenty of upside compared to his rivals. He is the winner, but if he finds a way to get beat, which he does very often, put in Easton.
