The Parks track at Morphettville will play host to a nine event meeting this Saturday. The weather forecast is for showers, the track is soft (7) and the rail is out three metres for the entire circuit.

Race 1. (12:02) Furphy (Bm68) 1250m
2 Birdies Galore (Bet Now: $2.00) on top in a tricky juvenile race. Patrick Payne trains this filly and she comes here off the back of a debut maiden win against the older horses, winning impressively at Warracknabeal in good style. Gets in quite well after the claim and is bred to handle the track.
5 Pharose (Bet Now: $5.00) looks the pick of the first starters. American Pharoah colt for Team Kav that debuts and has looked solid in jumpout work at Flemington, certainly good enough to give this a shake, so I’d watch the market and see what it does with him, whether it likes him or not.
3 Jackand (Bet Now: $31.00) is an interesting runner. Pat Kearney trains this son of Spieth, who hasn’t set the world on fire in a couple of jumpouts, but have to respect a Victorian stable that comes across and on breeding, a wet track should be fine, as well as the claim, he’s one to watch from a market perspective.
Race 2. (12:37) Thomas Farms Mdn Plate 1000m
13 The Weight (Bet Now: $2.80) will jump on the bunny and prove hard to run down. That’s what she tried to do last Wednesday at Balaklava and she did give a solid kick but was nabbed late, but the effort was still full of merit. Very hard to beat if this track is playing on speed, which it can often do.
9 Bajan Belle (Bet Now: $3.50) is a fascinating watch. Ryan Balfour had a few accepted for the race, but he goes with a sole rep in this first starter, who has trialled up quite well behind Totally Discreet, who I am keen on in the following race, so I’m trusting that form and she’s bred to handle wet ground.
11 Set The Bar Low (Bet Now: $9.50) is an interesting runner. Shayne Cahill trained filly that is on debut and I say interesting because she is having her first start and hasn’t been seen at the trials/jumpouts since the New Year. Stable have seemingly been patient, so I’d watch the market and see what it does because her trial/jumpout work looked encouraging at the time.
Race 3. (13:12) Fleurieu Milk Company (Bm64) 1000m
9 Totally Discreet (Bet Now: $3.90) has been hit and miss throughout her career, but she looks prepped for a first up kill. Phillip Stokes trained filly that has shown promise throughout her career but more often than not has let punters down. A jumpout win followed up by a sharp trial win indicates to me she’s ready to rock and roll.
10 Miss Daniel (Bet Now: $6.00) deserves another chance. This filly was kept quite safe in betting when resuming three weeks ago but she just never got involved in the race when down the track behind the in form Queman. Form around her from the Spring reads well and giving her another chance after the plain return.
8 Sadler’s Song (Bet Now: $31.00) is a daughter of Super One for the Macdonald/Gluyas camp that resumes. Hasn’t raced since January 8 when taking on the older horses at Gawler and was okay without being great behind the then in form Montign. 1000m fresh, she might need the run, but she’ll be strong late.
Race 4. (13:47) The Junction (Bm64) 1550m
7 Insaaf (Bet Now: $4.20) has found winning form and I think she can hold it. She’s had a few runs now for Will Clarken was looking a coming winner. That was confirmed last start at Strathalbyn with a dominant win, albeit in a race weaker than this, but her confidence is up and she can go on with it.
5 Fox D’Or (Bet Now: $8.50) can bounce back into the winners list for Ryan Balfour. Notable drifter in betting last Wednesday at Balaklava but despite that, he ran really well, just failing to pick up Mavette in a driving finish. The run prior behind Morty was plain, but last start was encouraging and off that, he can win this.
2 Ambidazzle (Bet Now: $SP.00) is a first four threat. Ran in the Autumn Final two weeks back and despite being outclassed, I thought she was far from disgraced in defeat behind Skilled Bunch. Good record here and I think a slight drop back in depth will see her run an improved race at odds.
Race 5. (14:22) Aramis (Bm68) 1950m
5 Rising Renown (Bet Now: $8.50) will put himself on speed and give his all. He ran at Morphettville three weeks back where he was attempting to lead throughout and he did give a pretty solid kick from the front. Just couldn’t quite finish it off when fifth to Morty. Last bit will test but he’ll give a sight.
8 Wild Imagination (Bet Now: $4.60) deserves another chance. On the back up for Team Jolly after racing last Saturday at Murray Bridge where she found the track a bit on the shifty side and couldn’t let down behind Thrill Kill. Should get a fairer surface this time around and her best sees her go close.
6 Flow Meter (Bet Now: $18.00) is a greybeard but he is racing as well as ever for the Hickmott/Riggs camp. Ran on Sunday at Mount Gambier and closed off really well late when fourth to the very much in form Clever Man. Doubt he’s good enough to win, but he’s one for multiples.
Race 6. (14:57) Dominant (Bm60) 1400m
8 Starsongari (Bet Now: $6.00) has been up a little while but I do think she finds a very winnable race. Ran over this trip at Balaklava last time out where she spotted those in front way too much head start and was never a factor, but liked her finale behind Dancing Stream. Vorster on, if she can settle closer in the run, she’ll take beating.
12 Garrire (Bet Now: $8.50) has only won the one race, but that said, he is racing well. Tried his guts out at Balaklava last start and was there to win. Just couldn’t quite finish the job when a close up third to Sirmaze. That 1600m run under the belt should see him toughen up for this 1400m assignment, as well as down in the weights.
Best version of 3 Stryke In Style (Bet Now: $15.00) is capable. Just been a while since he has shown it but I will say that this is one of the easier races he has contested in some time. Was solid late without threatening at Strathalbyn last time out and he is racing as if 1400m suits. Knockout hope.
Race 7. (15:32) Charles Melton Wine Lunch-Bm68 1250m
I’ve said time and time again, Will Clarken is one of the best at improving a tried horse. I think he’ll do it again, this time via 11 Agrimony (Bet Now: $6.50), formerly with Chris Waller. Last run came on May 11 at Sandown when on speed and tried hard but couldn’t quite finish it off. Now with Clarken, the tick over Balaklava trial was a lovely piece of work. He’s ready to go.
8 So You Can (Bet Now: $8.00) is hard to beat I feel. Macdonald/Gluyas camp trains this gelding that resumed two weeks ago and while he was beaten just under five lengths by Cashin’ Chex, he should have gone close to winning, but had zero luck in the straight and it was an ugly watch. Fab record on the Parks track, good upside to come…I think he’s one of the hardest to beat.
9 So Say Angel (Bet Now: $5.50) is a Ryan Balfour trained mare that is fourth up from a break and should be hard fit. Sat near the speed a fortnight back on the course proper here and stayed on pretty well in defeat behind the in form Cashin’ Chex. Hard fit now, and I think with a more conservatie steer, she’ll be more effective late.
Race 8. (16:12) Grand Syn.-New Yearlings-Bm82 1000m
8 Rushaway Lad (Bet Now: $2.50) is a promising three year old for Travis Doudle that has returned in excellent order. Market wanted him with confidence three weeks ago at Morphettville due to a kind map and low weight. #TeamThey got it spot on with the three year old finishing best late to win and win well against the older horses. He can go through the grades and keep winning.
1 Alleboom (Bet Now: $4.20) is a very genuine horse for Team Jolly that is always around the mark in these kind of races and I think that trend will continue. He resumes, having not raced since Jan 15 when down the track and looking a tired horse at Murray Bridge behind Extra Time. Bomb fresh horse and loves the Parks track.
3 Star Hills (Bet Now: $7.50) is a knockout hope. Ran three weeks back in the Spring Final and despite having an SP of $101, he ran a super race in defeat behind Rushaway Lad, beaten just over a length. That’s the first time he’s produced a positive run in some time, so if he can hold that, he’s in with a shout.
Race 9. (16:50) Colin Shaw Memorial (Bm78) 1400m
14 Blood Sweat Tears (Bet Now: $6.50) comes here with fresh legs for Team Alexander, having not raced since a strong win first up at this track/distance when given a peach by Vorster, who sticks with the gelding. Looked sharp in an Avoca jumpout since and from a soft gate, with wet track stats, he’s hard to beat.
1 Magnetic Edge (Bet Now: $4.80) brings a class factor into this and gets in pretty well after the claim. Ran last Saturday at Murray Bridge and closed off his race quite well when second to Calypso Reign. Back up in trip looks a positive and he’s a horse who loves to get his toe in.
Fitter and up in trip are two big ticks for 15 Echo Boomer (Bet Now: $26.00). She has been kept on ice, having not raced since April 23 when far from disgraced fresh behind Another Award, who has since gone on to perform well at Stakes grade, so I like that as a form reference…whether she wants this after a mini break, not sure, but her best is good enough to be dangerous.
