30/9/2021 Horse Racing Tips and Best Bets – Kalgoorlie, Hannans Handicap day

1 Tajmali (Bet Now: $2.50) would not have looked out of place in the Hannans but the Coolgardie Sprint run confirmed that back to the short course is the right move. That last start effort was over 1300m and she ran a very honest race on speed. Just couldn’t quite get the job done. Back to 1100m, she’ll be on speed and with the class factor, she’ll take beating.

4 Semigel (Bet Now: $3.60) has Pike sticking and that is a big tick for this gelding. He was on him when racing here last time out. He was held up for a few strides, but overall, he had his chance when seventh. Small field helps his cause, along with Pike sticking. Hard to beat I’d suggest.

2 Turbo Power (Bet Now: $3.20) will lead this field and run a bold race. Ran last Sunday over 1300m here when on speed and he gave a solid kick, but couldn’t quite finish it off when fourth to Staralign. Like him back to 1100m and Chris Parnham does get on well with him. A win wouldn’t shock.

The two three year old fillies down the bottom look to fight this out. 6 Here’s Dreaming (Bet Now: $2.00) gets the nod for me though. Luke Fernie trained filly that resumes. Hasn’t raced since her debut at Belmont back in June when back off the speed and working home strongly late when third. Resumes without a trial, but you’d suspect she’s ready to go.

7 Rebelzone (Bet Now: $3.20) looks the other key winning hope. Daughter of Territories that is on debut. This filly has had one public trial to get ready for start one, which saw her place at Lark Hill and looked to go about her business nicely I thought. Gate one and Pike steering, she’s likeable.

1 Nobel Prince (Bet Now: $20.00) has the solid provincial WA form, which should hold him in good stead for this. Ran over 1100m at Northam last time out when back off the speed and wasn’t really a winning threat, but his finale was sound. Takes on a couple of nice fillies here, so not sure he wins, but a first four threat.

5 Recalled (Bet Now: $1.95) on top. This three year old was backed with confidence when debuting over 1300m at Belmont. He got back off the speed and took a while to get into his work, but wasn’t too bad in defeat I thought. Fitter, up to 1400m, and back in depth, he appeals big time.

6 Tahitian Red (Bet Now: $4.00) should be suited back on firmer footing. Has been on wet ground her past few, the latest seeing her on a Soft 6 at Northam where she couldn’t quicken when let down. I think back on top of the ground and back a bit in depth, she can win this for sure.

1 Meet Joe Black (Bet Now: $6.50) will put himself on speed and run his usual honest race. Not sure he’s good enough to win but at least he will give himself every chance, which was the case here last time out when third to World Ruler. Just lacks the killer blow, but will try hard.

Going to have a throw at the stumps via 4 Mauldens Hill (Bet Now: $51.00). This veteran hasn’t exactly set the world on fire this time in, but I think he’s gradually getting towards peak fitness. Ran over this track/distance a few weeks ago when back near last in the run and failed to come on. If gate one is used to advantage, I think he’ll be dangerous at odds.

1 Black Comet (Bet Now: $7.50) is the class runner of the field and has to be respected. He ran sixth in the race mentioned above. He was held up for a stride or two, but overall, thought he had his chance and was just fair. Has to lump the weight, but the overall depth here isn’t strong.

2 Dalswinton (Bet Now: $8.50) won the race mentioned above and was a strong winner. He has had a run since and ran a shocker behind Pretty Friar. That was 1760m. I think back to the mile is a big tick and if he runs up to his win two back, he’ll take beating against this lot.

To my eye, this looks a race in two. I’ll bank on Pike getting the best out of 3 Regal City (Bet Now: $3.10), who has had a few runs now for Peter Fernie after formerly being with Ashley Maley. Ran over this track/distance last time out when wide no cover for the trip but fought on bravely, only nabbed late by Pretty Friar. Drawn better, he’ll take beating.

1 American Grin (Bet Now: $5.00) is the other key winning hope. He had been struggling to win a maiden when with Adam Durrant but that all changed with Peter Fernie when a dominant winner over the mile here last time out, interestingly with Pike steering. I would assume he had the pick of the two and goes with Regal City. That is my thinking anyway. Regardless, American Grin runs well here.

8 Watto’s Reward (Bet Now: $21.00) is getting towards peak fitness and has more upside than most. His two runs back from a spell have been fair without jumping up and down, his latest effort being a few weeks back behind Little Ses. Doubt he wins, but he can fill a first four spot.

5 Solarize (Bet Now: $3.80) is yet to win at this track in seven outings, but I think he is racing really well. Ran over 1100m here last Sunday and was good late from the back in a race dominated by those on speed. His racing pattern is tricky, but I think he’ll only run well if he holds a forward spot from the gate.

6 Westernize (Bet Now: $9.50) is a son of Patronize for David Harrison that resumes. This guy hasn’t raced since April 18 at Geraldton when far from disgraced in defeat in a good race won by Trade Thunder. Just one quiet trial to get ready, but has strong enough form to give this a shake. Watch the market.

Firmer footing and Blinkers first time could well spark improvement from 7 Cocky Dodd (Bet Now: $20.00). He has found wet ground in both runs back from a break, the latest being a down the track effort at Belmont behind Ginger Flyer. Blinkers on, dry deck, that can spark improvement.

8 Pym’s Royale (Bet Now: $9.50) saves his best for Kalgoorlie and he has run well in the previous two editions of this race. Third time lucky? He hasn’t had much go his way in four runs back from a spell, all of which have come at Belmont. Bar Plates are off, firm deck, gate one…I think he’s a great each way gamble at the odds.

If 2 Dig Deep (Bet Now: $5.00) is ready to go, he’ll give this an almighty shake. Team Pearce trained gelding that stepped out in trip when last in work, his last run being over 2000m in the Strickland during the Winter Carnival at Belmont. Two trials to get ready have been strong and Pike rides.

9 Special View (Bet Now: $15.00) rises a fair bit in grade/depth, but he is lightly raced, putting together a good record, and has a good racing style. Fending off Vintage Stock isn’t something I’d want high on my CV, but he did that last time over the mile and was strong. He’ll roll forward, make his own luck and run a positive race.

11 Domineer (Bet Now: $8.00) for me in the get out. Neville Parnham trained mare that is several weeks between runs since racing at Belmont just off the speed and tried hard to reel them in. Just couldn’t quite get there when third to Scorpion Stormz. Gee that form reads well for a race like this so she’ll do me.

4 Contessa Medici (Bet Now: $5.50) is the yard/market watch. Few weeks since her last start effort here where the market said she had three legs, no chance, and she ran accordingly, finishing 12 lengths from the winner. Good lead that Pike sticks, so watch the market with her.

3 City Invasion (Bet Now: $11.00) can bounce back. Peter Fernie trained gelding that was a strong winner two back before racing here again. Had to drag back a bit from the wide gate and couldn’t get into the contest. Can sit much closer in the run from the good draw and be dangerous.

LONG SHOT: Race Seven Number 8 Pym’s Royale
