26/1/2024 Horse Racing Tips and Best Bets – Murray Bridge, Australia Day races

A nine event meeting has been set down for Murray Bridge on Friday. Weather is fine, track is soft (5) and the rail is out nine metres from the 1000m-Winning Post; True for the remainder.

10 Desert Dancing (Bet Now: $2.05) has a bit on these I feel. Clarken/O’Shea trained filly that resumes after a two run Winter prep, both outings on heavy ground, where she struggled in the conditions. Finds firmer footing here and she looked outstanding in a trial win here last week. All things being equal, she should be taking care of this lot.

7 Rich Lady (Bet Now: $8.50) looks ready to win a maiden and she strikes a winnable one here IMO if the top tip is off her game. This mare ran over 1050m at Balaklava last time out where she was wide no cover throughout and tried hard but that early work just told late in the piece when third to Super Alana. Back to 900m and with the claim, on speed pattern, she’ll take beating I’d suggest.

8 Yip Yip Yip (Bet Now: $35.00) is suited at 900m for Ryan Balfour. This girl ran at Oakbank last start where she was on speed throughout and tried her guts out but just couldn’t quite see it through. 900m should be ideal for her, she’ll press forward and likely give a sight at odds. One for exotics.

4 Oakland Raider (Bet Now: $3.30) on top for me. Team Jolly trained gelding that resumes after debuting on the Parks track in August where he was four wide no cover and tired late to finish down the track behind Everly. Given a good break, has trialled up really well in readiness for his return and this isn’t a deep contest.

5 Aggressive Bee (Bet Now: $4.60) has a good track/distance record and a good racing style so he commands respect. He ran over the track/distance on New Years Day when on speed and fighting hard but couldn’t quite finish the job when third to The Sting. He was six weeks between runs there so with room for improvement, he’ll be around the mark.

2 Inner Sanctum (Bet Now: $201.00) is suited at 900m. He has raced over longer trips throughout his career and has been just fair without threatening, but he has an on speed racing style so for mine, he is suited at 900m, he’ll press forward and I think can give cheek at a price. Not dismissing him.

2 Holmes (Bet Now: $6.00) is the way I am leaning in what looks a two horse race. Andrew Clarken trained gelding that resumed over 1400m here on New Years Day where he got back, wide with cover, before peeling wider and although he took a while to get into his work, he was good in the run to the line behind Chelsea Cube. Fitter and up in trip, should get three wide cover and be very strong at the end.

1 Corden (Bet Now: $6.00) is the other threat. He resumed in another 1400m maiden here on New Years Day when four and five wide no cover throughout. He was entitled to knock right up but he kept finding and the run was absolutely enormous in defeat when third. If he gets a more economical run in transit this time around, he’ll take beating.

11 Crimson Vine (Bet Now: $4.20) is a Sam Burford trained mare that resumes. This girl is first up, having not raced since Sep 20 at Strathalbyn when looking a tired horse, finishing down the track behind Love From Lucy over 2050m. 1600m fresh signals some level of intent, especially on the home track, and her recent trial win was outstanding, so keen to see how she goes.

11 Moon Treaty (Bet Now: $4.50) looks just about ready to win for Team Jolly. He ran in a Murray Bridge maiden on New Years Day where I thought he was given every chance by Pannell. He loomed to win and indeed looked the winner but had to settle for a second to Sir Reginald, a narrow second. He has that 1200m run under the belt, which should hold him in good stead.

10 Knight Dancer (Bet Now: $12.00) ran third in the Sir Reginald maiden mentioned above. He was wide no cover on speed throughout and he tried his guts out but doing the extra work just told late in the piece when a close up third. If he can get a better run in transit this time around, his efforts suggest a maiden win is near and it could easily come here.

8 Apache Discreet (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a Harry Angel colt that is on debut. He trialled here last week when running fourth and for mine, I thought he moved well enough for a horse that is bred to appreciate further. Drawn wide, so likely will be spotting them a start but should be very strong at the end. Knockout hope.

2 Wolf Prince (Bet Now: $4.40) has run well at the track/distance previously and strikes a winnable race. He ran over 2150m at Oakbank last time where he got back early before trying to make a sustained run mid race and he kept finding the line but just couldn’t quite get there when third to Alpine Beau. Maps to get a suck run in transit and be strong late.

1 Sandastan (Bet Now: $3.60) is a definite winning chance. He spanked them over 2150m at Oakbank last time where he got into a decent spot near the speed before being clicked up on the turn to build the revs, get full momentum, and it worked, as he was vert strong to the line in winning. This race is no harder and 2500m should be fine.

6 Mr Coyne (Bet Now: $26.00) is a knockout hope. He ran down the track in the Alpine Beau race mentioned above where he got back to near last in the run and was never a factor, finishing well and truly down the track. He is hit and miss at times but his best is more than good enough to be dangerous at odds.

8 Baby Alex (Bet Now: $3.20) is third up from a break and should just about be ready to go for Andrew Clarken. She was ridden cold a few weeks ago at Murray Bridge and it worked out, finishing off her race quite strongly when a narrow second to In The Darkness in a good effort. Hard fit now and off last start, she should prove hard to beat against these.

7 Zero Inn (Bet Now: $3.00) is two a couple of weeks between runs for Jordan Frew since racing over 1400m here where she was on speed throughout and did try hard but just lacked the quality to put it away late in the piece when third to Exalted Dame. She has home track advantage and she seemingly strikes a very winnable race. Leading contender.

4 Rising Legend (Bet Now: $10.00) should be around the mark for Chris Bieg. He ran over 1200m at Strathalbyn last start when near the speed and was given every chance I thought by Voorham but couldn’t quite get the job done when third to Not A Single Bid. I think the step up in trip will suit, as will getting to a bigger track.

2 Persian Empire (Bet Now: $3.90) has done a really good job since joining Garret Lynch and I see no reason to get away from him. He did more than enough fresh at this track/distance before going to Kingscote where he spanked them over 1750m where he was a moral on paper and duly saluted. Good record at the trip and he’s done little wrong this prep. Happy to be in his corner.

3 Salute The Stars (Bet Now: $4.00) should appreciate a rise in trip for Emma Hubbard. He was 2000m back to the mile when racing at Strathalbyn last time where he tried his guts out from on speed and looked the winner but had to settle for a narrow second to Hobo Bob. Back up in trip, good racing style, he appeals.

1 Master Of Zerprise (Bet Now: $10.00) saves his best for Murray Bridge so I wouldn’t be dismissing him. He ran over 2000m at Naracoorte last start where he got back to near last in the run and was never a factor, finishing down the track behind Eterea. Bigger track and a gate to settle much closer, his best is good enough.

3 Huntley Lady (Bet Now: $6.00) doesn’t have the best of racing patterns but if the breaks go her way, she’ll finish over the top I feel. She ran over 1050m at Morphettville four weeks ago where she got back to near last in the run but made up good ground in a strong effort when a close up fourth to Winning Revolution. Good track/distance record, Blinkers on and with the claim, she’s so well in.

10 Runaway Belle (Bet Now: $4.80) is a daughter of Pariah for Phillip Stokes that resumes. This girl is first up, having not raced since June 17 at 1000m here when back in the run and was making up headway without threatening behind Starspangled Saga. Not a noted fresh performer but this isn’t a deep race and she will be strong late.

11 Emerald Court (Bet Now: $12.00) will jump on the bunny and give a sight. Produced sustained speed from the front to win at Penola two back before going to Naracoorte where she was on speed and tried hard but just couldn’t quite see it through when a tiring fifth to All Clubs. Back to 900m I like and if the handle bars are down, she’ll give cheek.

1 Final Chance (Bet Now: $3.80) will do me in the get out. He is on the quick back up after racing at Gawler on Saturday where he got back off the speed but was okay late without threatening behind Billie Bronx. That was a pretty solid 62 and now drops to a moderate 56. Has run well at the track/distance previously, hard to beat.

11 Jive Baby (Bet Now: $4.50) is third up from a break and should just about be at peak fitness. This mare has been solid in two runs this prep, both at 1200m, the latest at this track when a fair way back but closed off with purpose when third to In The Darkness. If the inside gate can be used to advantage, she’ll take holding out.

13 Ice Ghost (Bet Now: $10.00) has run well at the track/distance in the past and I think is racing well. He ran over 1350m at Strathalbyn last start where he got back and spotted them a tidy start but was solid to the line and closed off well behind Aban. Was a few weeks between runs so you’d think he has room for improvement and is suited on the bigger track.

NEXT BEST: Race Eight Number 3 Huntley Lady

LONG SHOT: Race Nine Number 1 Final Chance
