2026 Rockhampton Cup Runner Preview:

1. Keitel: On form, he should be odds on. But, he’s got a wide gate, topweight and the way the track played on Thursday where it was very much up/in, he’s got the task ahead of him.

2. Quothquan: Gave them a start and a beating to win fresh at Ipswich, in what was somewhat of a surprise triumph. Tricky gate…just whether he has eyes on longer races, but has class.

3. Give Me Space: Thought he really caught the eye at this track/distance last start and does have class…but just not sure how far back he’ll get.

4. Zoology: Didn’t do a bad job in the Ipswich Cup but 2100m back to 1600m now…is this a prep run for Townsville/Mackay/Cairns maybe? Happy to watch.

5. Mahagoni: Looks well and truly tested.

6. Call Da Vinci: SCR

7. Lupine: I think he’s worthy of an each way ticket. Better suited over further, but does have a touch of quality about him, trial work hasn’t been too bad and will be fence in the run, which will be the spot to be.

8. Matawai: Racing really well at present but just not sold on her at the mile at this level.

9. Our Missile: He’ll be strong late and have to respect the last start market push where he was backed with real confidence. Just needs to get a drag into the race.

10. Pippistrelle: Ridden a big negatively last time behind Pepperdine. Think handles bar down here, will look to land on speed and should run an improved race.

11. Pepperdine: Think he’s the leader if they want to dig up and hold. Dominant last start…end of 1600m is going to test but he’ll look the winner.

12. Journalism: Did a good job in defeat last start. He’ll be ridden cold, will find the fence and launch late. Knockout hope.

13. Raetihi: Needs it easier.

2026 Rockhampton Cup $100 Betting Strategy:

2026 Rockhampton Cup Speed Map

Pipistrelle and Raetihi look your main early speed players, but will have company via Pepperdine and Zoology, drawn inside. That should ensure a genuine early tempo.
