Nine races will be run and won at Doomben this Saturday. The weather is fine, the track is good (4) and the rail is out a half metre for the entire circuit.

4 Mean King (Bet Now: $3.40) takes beating for Team Munce after a debut second over this trip at Ipswich, chasing strongly from off speed but just found one better. Stable is having a decent run with their juveniles and with good upside/improvement, he takes beating here.

2 Apex Predator (Bet Now: $2.70) steps up to 1350m after a debut win over 1200m here, leading throughout and despite being challenged, she found plenty to fend them off. Extra 150m should be fine, good racing style and strikes a winnable race.

1 High Authority (Bet Now: $5.50) steps up to 1350m after a first up win over 1200m at the Gold Coast, sitting off speed before coming with a well timed run to finish best and score. Good upside to come, he’s in the mix.

4 Automne Tree (Bet Now: $2.60) steps up to the mile after a win over 1350m here at the midweeks, sitting off speed before coming with a well timed run to finish best and score. That was off a month freshen up so with upside/improvement, he takes beating.

12 Krumac (Bet Now: $3.90) ran over 1700m at Ipswich last time, chasing strongly from off speed but couldn’t quite get there when second to Swing State. If he can use the gate and settle closer, he’ll take holding out.

1 Northern Decree (Bet Now: $21.00) is several weeks between runs since racing at this track/distance when seemingly having his chance but just whacked in the run to the line. His best is good enough and this isn’t a deep contest.

3 Cavalry Man (Bet Now: $3.90) comes back in trip/grade after racing in the Ipswich Cup three weeks ago where the pattern was against him but I still thought he was entitled to do a bit more behind Kaluakoi. Back to this level, he can threaten.

9 Captain Maverick (Bet Now: $6.50) is knocking on the door for Chris Waller. He worked home strongly from off speed a fortnight back at Ipswich over 2500m when second to Pulveriser. Back in trip is fine, can settle closer and be effective late.

12 Artful Girl (Bet Now: $19.00) is one for exotics I feel. She ran three weeks ago over 2500m at Ipswich, getting a fair way out of her ground but liked the way she kept chasing and finding the line in defeat. Doubt she wins but can run first four.

15 Addition (Bet Now: $7.00) should prove hard to beat for Tony Gollan after racing three weeks ago over this trip at Ipswich, settling off speed and kept chasing in a pretty good effort in defeat. Racing well at the moment and only has to hold her form to be around the mark.

14 Natoya (Bet Now: $4.00) is a very interesting runner. Formerly with John Sargent, she now finds herself with Team Sears. She is a city class mare when right but recent runs have come on testing tracks, which I don’t think she likes. She’s a definite yard/market watch.

10 Diana’s Affair (Bet Now: $5.50) had the pattern in his corner three weeks back at Ipswich but even allowing for that, he gave a big sight and was only nabbed late by the in form Sosino. Good racing style, he appeals against these.

3 Larado (Bet Now: $2.80) is a Matty Hoysted trained gelding that resumes. His last run was Feb 14 at Eagle Farm when off speed and tried hard but couldn’t quite get there when fourth to Moonhaven. He does seem to fly fresh and his trial work indicates he’s ready to go.

8 Sydney Bowler (Bet Now: $12.00) is a very interesting runner. Formerly with O’Shea/Charlton, he now finds himself with Tony Gollan. He has all the talent in the world but injury has plagued his career. New home for him now and his trial work has been quite good, so watch betting.

7 Ramp It Up (Bet Now: $8.50) is a Lindsay Gough trained gelding that resumes. He is better suited over further but can sprint well on the fresh side despite the record on paper and if they overdo it in front, look for him to launch late.

5 Bossed Up (Bet Now: $2.20) looks the straight bat play. He comes back to 1110m after racing over 1200m two weeks ago at Eagle Farm, chasing strongly from off speed when second to Lisztomania. He’ll be strong late and should lob into a beaut spot.

11 Zoubaby (Bet Now: $6.50) was a forgive behind Balance The Books three weeks ago at Ipswich. She did early work in the run and I reckon it took something away from her finale. Much better suited at 1110m, she’s a big improver.

4 Tiger Tie (Bet Now: $9.00) comes here with fresh legs, having not raced since June 14 over 1000m at the Sunny Coast when on speed and tiring late. She should find the front and from there, run a very positive race.

16 October Manifesto (Bet Now: $12.00) is hard to beat for Team Archibald after a maiden win at Beaudesert where he looked a good thing on paper and duly saluted, winning quite impressively. He strikes a very winnable race IMO and is right down in the weights.

10 Trafalgar Square (Bet Now: $3.50) has been quite good since joining Team Munce. Both runs for the stable have come at Ipswich, winning first up before a tidy effort three weeks ago when off speed and kept finding the line. Hard fit now, she takes beating against these.

9 Headhunter (Bet Now: $13.00) is a Matty Hoysted trained gelding that resumes. He is first up, having not raced since March 7 over 1800m at Eagle Farm when leading and tiring late. Looks to have trialled well for the return, watch betting.

3 Smexy (Bet Now: $6.50) is hard to beat after racing three weeks back over 1350m at Ipswich, getting a mile out of her ground but loved the way she kept chasing and finding the line in defeat. Has class on her side and should be strong late.

1 Navy Pilot (Bet Now: $5.00) was just too keen in the run at Ipswich three weeks ago. He was ridden with early intent but got keen and it took away something from his finale. If he brings his best, he can take this out.

13 Lockyer (Bet Now: $6.50) is three weeks between runs since racing over this trip at Ipswich. He got into a decent spot in transit just off speed and tried hard but couldn’t quite get there and whacked late. His best is good enough so I am not dismissing.

2 Hatchet (Bet Now: $8.00) is a beauty for Rob Heathcoate and he loves racing at Doomben so returning here, I say he takes beating. He ran two weeks ago in the Healy and was far from disgraced in defeat I thought behind Yellow Brick. Back to where he loves, he’ll do me.

12 Caspernova (Bet Now: $4.60) ran fourth at Eagle Farm two weeks ago and I thought the run had plenty of merit given he came wide in the straight and it was a day where the inside lanes were dynamite. Great record at Doomben, he’s one of the leading contenders.

13 Hermanita (Bet Now: $11.00) is a Team Munce trained mare that resumes. Her last run came on Feb 28 at Eagle Farm when down the track, and I think it was indeed an end of prep run. Given a good break and her trial work has been strong so watch betting.

LONG SHOT: Race Nine Number 2 Hatchet
